Kildare's Fergal Conway pulls the trigger

Kildare’s Fergal Conway has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

Having made his senior debut in the 2014 O’Byrne, Conway went on to make 98 competitive appearances for the Lilywhites.

The Celbridge man won a Leinster U21 title in 2013 when Kildare defeated Longford to earn their 10th provincial crown in the grade.

In a statement released by the Kildare county board this morning (Friday), it outlined that a persistent knee injury is the reason behind Conway’s retirement and they thanked him for his services at all levels.

“He was an exceptional leader on and off the field and represented the county with great honour, pride and distinction,” the statement said.

“We thank Fergal for his commitment and dedication to Kildare GAA and wish him all the best for the future.”
