Marren retires from Sligo duty

Sligo attacker Adrian Marren
Sligo forward Adrian Marren has announced his retirement from inter-county football after 16 years.
The Curry clubman made his debut for the Yeats men in 2004 and helped them to a Connacht SFC success three years later.
All in all, he featured in four provincial finals for his county, losing out to Mayo in the 2012 and 2015 deciders and scoring 0-3 in each of them.
Marren tweeted last night that he would not be returning to the Sligo jersey this winter, which will come as a blow to manager Paul Taylor whom he wished well going forward.
"The time has come to depart the inter-country scene after 16 years of some great memories in the black and white.
"Now is the time to bow out. I have been lucky to play with some of the best and to wear the Sligo jersey, making great friends along the way.
"I will be forever grateful to my club Curry, my family, friends and team-mates who gave me great support from day one.
"I would like to wish Paul and the lads the best for the rest of the year."

Ending a 32 year famine for the Nestor Cup in 2007. Adrian also claimed a GAA|GPA Player of the Month in June 2012, kicking 2-6 v Galway in a Connacht semifinal.
