Attendances 2025 - 10 Like(s)
The gombeens complaining about the 'Grab All Association' would want to take out last years Annual Report and have an ACTUAL look at the figures. Were it not for rental income from concerts and the like, the GAA would have run a small deficit. Most of the money raised through the GAA goes back to your own county boards to pay for, you know, the likes of Games Promotion Officers and so forth. And yes, the GAA does have problem childs like Cork, Mayo and certain clubs that they've had to bail out through mismanagement. The organisation doesn't run on fresh air, and would certainly cost far more to run were it not for the amatur ethos. I'd far rather give my 100eur for an All Ireland ticket than to a soccer club across the water or to our friends in the IRFU who are well fit to charge for games of less importance.

Replying To Liffeylad: "Of course he supports the immigrants sure isn't he one himself in Dublin but with his attitude I'm not surprised. By the way where exactly did you do the poll that told you most of the residents are happy about the concerts surely you have evidence to back up your statements" Looks like you don't know the meaning of 'an immigrant'... scarlet for ya..... What's wrong with immigrants anyhow? I hope you're not another gombeen like Barney?
BTW... Google is your friend .... https://www.q102.ie/news/q102-news/croke-park-residents-lodge-objections-to-brooks-gigs/ - 86 objections received by DCC. You're clearly in the minority. So as I've said... move somewhere else if it pains you and your family. You don't get to hold the area to ransom over nonsence like this.

GAA Grounds Unavailable - 6 Like(s)
Replying To Canuck: "We seem to be gone down a new road where concerts now have priority over our championships in availability of the playing grounds. Clare v Cork and the Munster semi football final will not be played in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. We have come along ways since Waterford were not allowed name a ground when Walsh Park was deemed unfit. Cork should not be allowed name a pitch and the advantage should go to Clare. It is also giving the middle finger to Cork supporters who contributed to putting the stadium there and now are told to travel to a game they should be enjoying at home." The problem is Cork GAA who conpletely underbudgeted the cost of Pairc Ui Chaoimh... and here we are. That's the real scandal. If 100 concerts are needed to pay us all back so be it... the GAA can ill afford to bail out counties who go off and waste money on pet projects.

John Costello Comments - 6 Like(s)
Replying To MesAmis: "Dublin clubs already fundraise massively to pay for GPOs, as well as all the other costs associated with running their clubs.
A cut in funding from the GAA for GPOs means either clubs fundraise more to make up the shortfall or there are less GPOs.
I don't really see what's so ridiculous about his comments to be honest." Isn't it great that clubs are able to fundraise enough to funds GPO's for every club in the county... meanwhile here in Leitrim we fundraise to keep the dressing room lights on. I think I'll have to take out my small violin for John Costello's annual moan...

GAA President - Jarlath Burns - 6 Like(s)
Replying To points50swiththeargyllsonthewrongfeet: "How does Jarlath building bridges with Loyalists disprove an allegation that some folk South of the border don't like Nordies in exalted positions? Peter Quinn said very little in public and as such attracted few comments from anyone, good or bad. I saw Burns' short speech yesterday - it was short, and fitting to give a mention to Murphy and to O'Connor, both men who probably will be bowing out of their respective roles. I personally would find it very odd that the President of an Association should show up on AI final day and be entirely mute. I'd personally prefer it if the tradition of winning captains making bland and cringey speeches was abandoned, as the vast majority of them are no good at it." Absolutely... how anyone could have a problem with his speeches is beyond me. God forbid we'd have a president that is able to articulate what the GAA is and should be all about. The gombeens are not for that.

Replying To Tirchonaill1: "I don't normally reply to trolls but I'll make an exception because you made me laugh with this reply, it reminds me of a discussion I heard on 'off the ball' one time, could have been David Brady that was on not sure but anyway they maintained that if the Dublin 6 in a row team where the best team of all time then Mayo were the second best! you'd just have to laugh at their logic, of course Donegal actually beat that great Dublin team in 2014, otherwise it possibly could have been 8 in a row but you don't hear us saying we were the second best team of all time lol. Poor Mayo, I really do feel sorry for them, at least most of the team from that era got a national league winners medal and a good few Connacht medals having beaten the likes of Leitrim, Sligo, London and New York along the way, 2nd best team of all time indeed." And you know if they ever do win one, David will be back to say they're best team of all time of course. Insufferable fools.

Poor Donegal being made to travel to the Hyde - 6 Like(s)
Replying To S1234: "Bunch of moaners you lot are ! McGuiness is the biggest cry baby ever . You won't win sam either that will go to Armagh . Thought you were meant to beat us out the gate by half time took a last minute score for you. Mayo were 25/1 to win sam and it took you that long to get the winning score what does that tell you.
There's sore loosers & sore winners and Donegal are the biggest sore winners arrogant to . Can't just say hard luck to Mayo you have to go make stupid comments . Where did you want the game? Sligo out of action , Cavan was being used . Obviously would have suited you lot to have it in your home ground as you feel entitled to everything grow up !" This is rich coming from someone from Mayo. If there was medals being handed out for moaning, Mayo would surely win a gold.

Soccer has a big following in 'the working class' areas in Dublin, and other cities." The soccer fraternity are just bitter because the 'gaah' is better organised and run professionally. Pure jealousy.

Leitrim GAA thread - 5 Like(s)
Replying To tirawleybaron: "I would hope Leitrim aren't paying big money for the Andy Moran PR trip over there.
Spending valuable resources for a big name manger is a waste of time. Better off investing in a full time skills coach to spend a day a week in every club or school in the county.
Leitrim are competitive once in a generation and have historically won a provincial once per average human lifespan. Andy Moran won't change that.
However, if the county board looked at the census results in the county and identified where and when the next large batch of kids are. They could target rehire resources there to produce a "golden generation" and target a minor/U20/senior provincial title with them.
Pouring away money trying to beat Galway and Mayo with a big name manger is folly." I'd completely agree. Wrong man for Leitrim. The man I wanted obviously couldn't be persuaded to take on another county job so soon (Padraig Davis). A more modest appointment who has a clear track record and lots of respect in Leitrim having won county titles with Mohill. Moran has done absolutely nothing in management to warrent a county job. I mean he barely even managed a club team... and his own at that! I only hope for his own management career that 2023 is more fruitful. We can ill afford to be throwing away money on 'name' management teams. As you say, we need to concentrate resources & time at club & underage level and work from there as it's pointless otherwise. Aside of that I still believe we have a current team that is capable of operating in Division 3 at least but look we'll probably waste that opportunity as well.

Replying To Liffeylad: "Well you need to take a stroll around Croke Park and educate yourself and you might just note that there is a lot of social housing in the area both flats and houses so in many cases people don't have the option of moving or is the fact that they are social housing mean that these people should be just grateful that they have a home and put up with whatever the GAA decide to inflict on them." Indeed there is lots of social houses and lots of private ones as well.... and lots of happy residents in the locality as well. If your home happens to be social well be grateful that the state is providing a subsidised home, subsidised by taxpayers. The real problem we have in this country is the likes of you and others complaining about nonsense like this ... nothing but NIMBY'S.... thankfully the local council cuts through all that bull. As I've said, move on somewhere else if it causes you so much grief, there will be lots of people who find it perfectly fine.

Dublin GAA thread - 5 Like(s)
Replying To BarneyGrant: "That argument falls with Louth's rightful insistence on picking a ground that did not cater for a third of the Armagh demand alone through clubs.
I have a PP pass but would be happy to be in lottery. PP would harldy hold even the Dublin crowd that was in Cavan and not the regular number on Hill these times. But supporters as Fionn says seem to massively favour Parnell despit that.
Huge pay off too if getting to quarter finals if they win and if - as they will be - the crowd and familiarity with the mad pitch is an advantage. Donegal themselves have made Ballybofey in particular into such a cauldron." Louth's suitation is not comparable as you well know. Here we have a suitation where the Dubs are throwing their noses up at Croke Park, the defacto home of the Dubs for as long as I remember, "Hill 16 Dublin Only" and all that lark. It really is hilarious stuff.

Can Jack O'connor Over Take Jim Gavin? - 4 Like(s)
Replying To legendzxix: "Jim Gavin's record can only be compared to other managers who have achieved success within the environment of their home league ground only. The likes of Tyrone, Kerry, Armagh and Mayo winning All Irelands outside of their home league ground is different gravy - different gravy that carries more weight in gold when it comes to the respect of the nation." I have had conversations with eejits putting them up lampposts. Absolute dopes who haven't a clue what they are talking about. Our flag has been hijacked and it's embarrassing." So how do normal people take back our flag? It's not a crime to fly your national flag & be proud of your country.

Replying To totalrecall: "GAA are fleecing the faithful. Many supporters paying club memberships, buying weekly lotto, season tickets whatever. Championship tickets increased this year, munster hurling Championship tickets increased 2 years in a row. Too many games behind pay wall. Donegal and Galway last weekend and this weekend. No such this as free to air tv in Ireland, tv license fee takes care of that.
Yes I'm from Donegal and will be accused of moaning. The condensed season is hitting all fans hard in the pocket, I make it 16 out of around 21 weekends at either league or Championship games following Donegal this year, similar for other county supporters too. It all adds up especially when you are bringing family members too.
Having met and spoken with Jarlath Burns many years ago, I genuinely had hope when Burns came in as president, but alas he's one of the boys and has adopted a laissez-faire policy, not going the rock the boat, or should I say the cash cow. He has presided over ticket hikes and greed with the annexing of gaa go now plus for total control." Have you read last years Annual Report? The GAA doesn't run on fresh air and lets be honest the surplus recorded is modest on a turnover of €133mil. In fact, the surplus is fully attributed to stadium hire, otherwise there would have been a modest loss. And you can argue and moan all you like but this is the harsh reality. GAA+ had to be brought in because there was simply no interest from other broadcasters in providing the games. By all accounts it's been a success by allowing the GAA control their product & broadcast games that would not have been otherwise shown. Yes there's a cost but as I've said the organisation doesn't run on fresh air. At a cost of €79 (with a further 10% discount for GAA members) for 40 games it's not bad to be honest.
