One of Kildare's biggest GAA clubs has received just 15 tickets for this evening's All-Ireland football qualifier against Mayo in St. Conleth's Park.

Sarsfields GAA club in Newbridge revealed their paltry allocation on Facebook on Thursday before going on to say that the tickets would be distributed through a raffle.

The much-talked about game was orginally fixed for Croke Park, but was moved to Newbridge after Kildare refused to play it at GAA headquarters on the basis that they were entitled to home advantage.

With St. Conleth's Park having a capacity of just 8,200 and Mayo's 3,500 season ticket holders all entitled to a ticket, Kildare GAA clubs have received only 1,500 tickets between them. It means that their fans will be outnumbered by at least two-to-one, and by three-to-one among season ticket holders.

While acknowleding the ticket shortage, Kildare GAA believe it's still better than giving up home advantage.

"We fully accept that the decision to play in St Conleth's Park will impact significantly on the number of tickets that are available for Kildare supporters and that it will not be possible to facilitate concessions at the game. We would ask people who do not have a ticket for the match on Saturday not to turn up in Newbridge," they have advised supporters.

Meanwhile, Sarsfields are hosting an open air live screening of Kildare v Mayo at their GAA club grounds and admission is free.
