A little bit of joy came to the Farney county last night in Belfast when their Minor Ladies Footballers beat Antrim to become Ulster champions, winning by 3-13 to 1-12. 

‘I think the county needed it, after everything we’ve been through for the last month or so’ - said Emyvale star Brid McNally in an eloquent and poignant interview after the game with Jerome Quinn.

'Everybody came together in tragedy but here everybody comes together with a win, and not only is it a win for our team, but it’s a win for the county, and for Monaghan in general'.
