Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney has confirmed All-Star forward Rian O’Neill is “taking a bit of time” away from the squad.

The All-Ireland champions went down in their Allianz Football League opener against Galway on Saturday evening, losing out on a 1-12 to 0-9 scoreline in Salthill in what was a repeat of last July’s Sam Maguire Cup decider.

Speaking to media after the disappointing defeat, McGeeney said that he was unsure of a return date for ace attacker O’Neill.

“He is taking a bit of time out for himself at the minute. I don't know whether it is weeks or months. We said we'd give it to him,” he is quoted saying by BelfastLive.co.uk.

“When it is personal I try not to ask any questions. He was in for a while and he was training, he is just taking a bit of time for himself. That is it.”
