There were tears of joy when Erika O'Shea phoned her mother to tell her she would be making her AFLW debut for North Melbourne tomorrow.
The 19-year-old from Cork found out about her selection when, during a team meeting, Roos coach Darren 'Crock' Crocker played a game of cards which revealed the five new players who made the starting line-up for the Round 1 match against the Gold Coast Suns at the Blundstone Arena.
Two-time Meath All-Ireland winner Vikki Wall is also among the five new players selected.
TweetWe've all seen the call to the parents, but there's a teensy twist here... they're 17,443km away in Macroom, Ireland.
