Breffni Park must be the most used gaelic pitch in the country? I can't remember the last day/night there wasn't a game on it. Giving that people have been complaining that it's a very soft ground it seems to hold up well. I'm sure they didn't forget to put on the flags on purpose in all fairness!

Replying To cavanblueman:  "The whole GAA scene in Cavan needs a total revamp and this should be lead by the County Board, but again, they dont care, they're only interested in making money and pumping it into a County Team that continues to fail year after year. Tell me, what good did the €50k GPS system do this year? absolutely nothing, why do you need to monitor the distance a lad covers, you need to monitor how he's plays football!

Time for the County Board to take the lead, meet with all club reps and decide a way forward - if amalgamations for some clubs are the way forward, then so be it. Whats the point in Clubs (Killeshandra) entering competitions when they cant field teams? No disrespect to Killeshandra, they had a great 2015, but sadly lost some of their players. Would it not make sense for them to amalgamate with Arva and go out an try to win a Senior Championship, wouldnt that be great for that area. Clubs are all but a name now, the die hard club chairmen and club reps are a dying breed now, time for the younger generation to make a stand and take the GAA by the scruff of the neck and make it their own."
GPS system is vital to modern football. Tells you a lot more than distance covered. Can tell how many sprints a player does, when their energy level drops, if their running style has altered, if they are in the red zone regarding injury, how much work they need to do, personalise fitness work, etc.....

Doesn't really help them kick the ball over the bar?
I wonder could we devise a system to help forwards do that?

Ah sure flog players till they're injured. Why use sports science? Sure bring back the pig skin football and have the bishop throw up the ball.

Some of the odds on Killygarry are crazy. They ran riot against Kingscourt the last day and will do the same tomorrow

Maybe start coaching the skills of the game with coaches how know what there at rather than coaches who learned it out of a book.
It's not greyhounds or road runners we need .
Few footballers with a bit of skill.
It's hard lines that Johnston at 32 is still the best scoring forward in the county as you will see in the rest of the club championship.

I agree but you still need to know if lads fitness levels dropping or at risk of injury. It's just complimentary to the whole process. I only hope we have the expertise that can interpret it properly.

Also I don't know how you could pick out any player on both teams that would be county standard. Great that we won but the game really showed how the standard of club football is in cavan."

It was not lack of respect as I would normally put the flags out for the matches one forgot that I was in the Mater after having major surgery so no disrespect to anyone just an oversight and please stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Replying To SwadMan11:  "Was at the replay game last night myself. Was quite an easy win for Cootehill in the end but Ballinagh were no great shakes.
For once I am going to compliment the refereeing in the game. He was superb and completely fair and un-biased which alot of the ref's in this county don't seem to be.
The first game was ruined by John Emo's antics. He was nothing short of disgraceful in that game. The Cootehill lads must have given him some stick before the game for him to go against them as much as he did. It was possibly the worst refereeing I have seen in a long time and no doubt it will go unpunished. Is there a system in place where referees in this county are assessed at all? If so that man should not be let near a football field again."
I spoke with John Duffy and it would seem the CCC pick the referees along with John. If no complaint made what can one do. By the way the last free taken did split the posts so it was a point.

Dorah, don't you know that on this forum it's either black or white? You can't be in favour of a technology whilst also acknowledging that the skills of the game need to be coached too. It's that type of crazy thinking that might lead to meaningful discussion.

It's getting as bad as American Politics here. A right left conservative liberal divide.

No so called coach should be left near our children until they have learnt the basic skills themselves first. I have been advocating this for years but no one listens. Manual trainers are a complete waste of space time and money. Who get's the better response from young lads the mouth piece with no manners or the person that respects the individuals he is directing his opinions towards. For me the respectful coach that has control of his emotions and is not shouting and roaring like a souped up idiot on the side line.
Tell me would have more respect for a manager that wants to hammer other children by twenty or thirty points at under age level or the one that makes a game of it by allowing some of the weaker players their chance to play???> I have watched these people even bring in stronger players to hammer the young team more and let me tell you many are lost to the game of a match like that.

You're not wrong Sean.

Now could you tell me how in the land of sanity that has anything to do with my post?

Killygarry got caught out in the long grass. How many times is that they've got close and then bottled it?

Kingscourt used all of their experience but only the crucial save at the end kept them in it. Its heating up nicely now.

I wouldnt call a quarter final coming close, i think they've only been in one senior semi final so they havent really ever come close. Hammering kingscourt a few weeks ago is the worst thing that could have happened to them and kingscourt showed all there experience and know how to get across the line. An interesting semi final match up if the gaels beat the lough

its turning out to be a bit of a disadvantage the higher up you finished in the championship table....cavan gaels and castlerahan were 1st and 2nd in the table and now they are 1) been left a fortnight with no game 2) going to be left with less time to prepare for a semi final than there opponents.
