5th Feb Cavan V Dublin - Dublin win 0 points
12th Feb Monaghan v Cavan - Cavan win 2 points
25th Feb Tyrone v Cavan - Tyrone win we stay on 2 points
4th March Cavan v Donegal - Cavan win 4 points
19th March Mayo v Cavan - Have a sneeky feeling for a draw but ill go with Mayo - still on 4 points
26th March Cavan v Kerry - Kerry win - still on 4 points
2nd April Roscommon v Cavan - relegation playoff really and Cavan to repeat similar performance to last time and win.

So there is where i can see Cavan getting 6 points. I am sure that you will come and critisise it but this is my opinion. Now over to you!"

Would you if you have time predict each teams results against the other teams so I can see who will be at the bottom positions.

Hello Sean, what's going on up there at the moment regarding county panel? Are there trials happening? And would you be happy with the players you have seen in?

I'd be thinking we would need to beat Monaghan in blaney otherwise we would be playing Donegal on the back of 3 defeats and that won't be easy.
We might catch Kerry cold depending on what strength they travel with and if the Crokes players are celebrating an all Ireland club win the week before.
Monaghan game really the key seeing it between the Dublin and Tyrone games.
At max I'd go for a win against Monaghan and Kerry ..
can't see us beating Ros. Especially away.
Maybe nick a point off Tyrone if tails were up after maybe beating Monaghan..
it will be a great achievement to stay up because I'd say us and Roscommon and Monaghan would be the 3 relegation candidates.
So results against them will tell a lot.
If we beat Monaghan in the 2nd game we have a chance.
If we don't it will be a struggle

If we don't beat Monaghan I can us losing the first 6.
If we get an early win like Ros did last year, get confidence up we can do alright like they did.

We won't know until after the first 2/3 games until we see how seriously the bigger teams are taking the league.
Dublin will be minus st Vincent's players and lads like Brogan , Flynn McCauley don't usually make an appearance in Feburary.
Same goes for Kerry with Dr Crokes.
I think Tyrone , Donegal, and especially Mayo will take it very serious as will ourselves.
We went on a good run last year against all the odds even though we didn't lose the first 2 games by much.
Hopefully we will finish strong and stay up and that would give great incentive for lads coming into the championship.

All I will say is this manager is a breath of fresh air and if his attitude rubs off on the players all will be good.

Sean you are very positive about Matty and his track record justifies your confidence. He has been a success everywhere he has been. We are lucky to have him heading into 2017!

To be honest I was not aware of his track record.
I spoke with him last night about my health situation because he took the time to ask me. He has such a positive persona about him he makes you look at things differently. I did not get good news Monday and I was explaining it to him, I left him with a far more positive feeling long may it continue.

Great to hear the new man talking so positive. I think that maybe the lads that are opting out will give other lads the chance to show what they can do . Let's face it if they were still there they would still be playing. Are the u 21s training yet . Is there any of them that can make the step up Sean. When is hastings cup . Very exciting times ahead I think .Don't think Minors will be great. No College teams doing well. But if we can get 2 or 3 every year it won't be bad.
Sorry to hear of your bad news Sean . Hope you get better news.

John Brady will do a great job with the minors the future is bright for these lads if they work with him. John is a winner. St Pats if they win their next match will still be involved. I don't know anything about the U21s other than Niall Lynch will be spoilt for choice if what I have seen so far on the 3G some great teams and some quality players also. More U21 matches this weekend worth coming in and having a look at these players. If Ramor are beaten it will be the shock of the year for they are brilliant quality quality their manager is a very good guy and is also very intelligent when it comes to switches.
I think the Ulster minor competition is unfair unlike Leinster with a second chance our lad's only get one crack at it, I don't understand why they don't have a back door for them also for as many know they can be brilliant one day and way off the beat another.
Blueman from what I have seen regarding players that are in ? there is no reason why I should be unhappy for I am not a selector but there are plenty around and I am sure the boss will select the best for his plans going forward. Regarding those that made themselves unavailable I think I read some place Mattie left the door open should they become available. I think I read this on the home page?? I stand corrected.

Sean O Rinn do you not think there enough underage football being played without giving minors a back door.. more games..

The u21s should have a good team. A good few that started against Tyrone this year are eligible
Donegal would be the favourites I'd imagine , a few good Minor teams in the couple of years .

My post was really in favor of the young lads who will have trained hard for a long time with only one chance in the competition thats all. I bet if you asked the young lads that have been training would they like a second chance I would say everyone of them would say yes please. I got that feeling over the years talking to the young lads that you only get one chance unless you get to the Ulster final.

Will be interesting to see if McGleenan is going to include some U21's on the panel for the league or not. I think that he will need to have at least 3 of them in and should let them have time with the U21's before the Ulster Championships starts. Good to hear that Mattie is making a good impression around the place and I have a good feeling for him. I was in the same room as him a couple of weeks ago and I could see that he has a way with people and I hope that he gets the respect of the players. I think also that while he seems a nice fella, he will suffer no fools and he is an imposing man.

I am actually really looking forward to the McKenna Cup already. The new year is upon us and I plan to enjoy the festive period before the new season kicks in. Great feeling to be facing into a Division 1 campaign and welcoming the likes of Donegal, Dublin and Kerry to Breffni. I'm going to try and get to every game! I hope that people in Cavan get behind the team and that we can turn some good gates. The Dubs will be down in numbers and this will be a great spectacle for Cavan. Should be a fair bit of slagging too :)

Think McGleenan wanted 3 u21s but they weren't released. He should concentrate on the players available.

That's all it ever use to be was one chance. You got young players playing colleges, voc, minor club , county minor. Plus exams. There was even minors playing u21 last week wasn't there. We are playing an u21 championship on heavy pitches in the end of November simple because there is too much county football.
That's some player welfare isn't.
These young lads are on the go since last feb and they still playing
No football in the summer because the county senior team are training or playing .
Then rush it all through in sept oct Nov.
Why can the club u21 championship not be played in the summer?
Too much county football and not enough club football during the summer.

McKenna cup is a nothing competition and I hope the boss uses it to play with a mixed squad new players the current players and potential panel players only way forward.
