Hyland under pressure. So says Derrys manager Barton

Replying To Awwwwnow:  "We lack scoring forwards you say??????? Well our tactics don't allow for scoring forwards. Do they? What's the point in playing Johnston 60 metres from goal looking for scraps . The tactics we use are ancient. When did you ever see Bernard brogan out in midfield looking for ball. The forwards are there..... THEY NOT BEING USED RIGHT. That's a management problem."
When did you ever see Bernard Brogan miss from 30 yards? Exactly what Cavan forwards would you have on the Dublin team? BTW, I think management got tactics wrong 2nd half against Derry but that's not the main reason why we lost.

It's not about what Cavan forwards would get on the Dublin team. It's about corner forwards playing as corner forwards close to goal and getting the ball played to them , not having to go 60 yards looking for it. Look at Mc Brearty yesterday when he played close to goal and got good quality ball. He skinned his man and kicked it over. Big change from his Ulster final performance . I still believe Jack Brady and Seanie will do damage with quality ball inside 30 metres.
Too many glory hunters coming forward wanting to have a pop of the outside of the boot and they not able.
Let the ball in fast to your inside line
Play both corners and stretch the opposition sweeper system.
This coming through the middle and getting turned over cost us dearly this year but we not learning from our mistakes

It's everything to do with the quality of forward. Play the ball into corners to small men to be pushed back out the field again? Either that or shoot from stupid angles. Sweepers don't mind being stretched because they won't follow. They protect the middle and scoring zone. I suppose McBrearty's speed, mobility and strength had nothing to do with him getting on the ball in the first place. Like it or not Givney was our most effective forward this year and he's a midfielder. Our shooting let us down v Derry and it wasn't only the "glory hunters" coming through the middle kicking the wides.

I don't think it's your call if Mr Hyland stay's or not. The minor job is up for grabs I suppose John Brady must be a huge favorite for this position."
Seanorinn a cara both

Ta Tomsmith Cavan Gaels anseo ag caint leat nor ag sciobt leat I do not fully agree with you that John Brady is a cert.
John while he managed a U 17 squad and he won the Gerry Reilly in was it 2014 or 2015 ,
Jimmy Reilly has done wonderful work at Crosserlough both in discipline type of play and he has installed confidence in the panel, while Michale O Rourke has had a wonder time with Killagarry minor, He comes from Closserlough where he was a no nonsense type of player. But for me Frank Brady is the man who should be appointed who did a power of work in Monaghan. Put your money on Frank Brady if he wants the job

It might not even be one of the four mentioned but my money is on John Brady. He did great work with an amalgamated U21 team as well and one thing in his favor he knows all the young lads coming forward so a natural transition to the minors. Not my friend but I hope despite this that he gets it and brings the development management along with him like Kevin Smith and co and win an Ulster title and who knows an All Ireland.

Tomsmith Cavan Town Cavan Gaels man here

It is with deep regret that I am to comment here of the premature departure of Mr Hyland from the post of the Cavan Senior team a mangers job.
But once the vulture were out and the Grey crows began to circle the Lacken man did the honorable thing and decided to leave it to them. I do hope that Mr Hyland's action will not cause a split in the Cavan team setup. While I am on record of supporting his appointment, his tenure and his role I do feel that the back stabbers were ontip toes once Tyrone beat us.
Terry you did a great job two U 21 All Ireland final, promoted from Div 3 to Div 1 and you leave with your head high,

Tomsmith - how many Ulster Championship Games did he win during his time in charge?

So on three separate threads, Dean Martin has informed us all of how many Ulster Championship games Cavan have won under Hyland.

Is there any chance we could get this sent by email and maybe a letter in the post too. I don't think you're being clear enough.

You should really hit the stage. You'd make a fortune.

I'm looking at many different threads that proclaim Terry as a hero for all his senior successes, so I'm merely asking the question, is winning 2 Ulster Championship games in 5 years a success?

No, there was one thread about Hyland being gone from the job (his contract was up, did you hear?). You decided it was worth starting your own thread to criticise him.

And more untruths from you. Cavan did not win just two Ulster Championship games under Hyland. It's bad enough your opinion being bizarre and bitter but you're getting to the stage of just lying now.

1. Armagh 2013
2. Fermanagh 2013
3. Armagh 2016.

I put the numbers beside them so you can see that it's three

I'm lost for words. Some times I just need to admit that there's just some people you can't reach and admit defeat.

So congratulations Dean, you've broken me.

the answer is 3 Dean.

Incidentally, you got that wrong on your other thread. It was also pointed out that only Monaghan Tyrone and Donegal won more in that time frame. Incidentally, we won 2 in the previous 5 years.

Who would you like to see get the job? I don't really care for your opinion, I would just like you to name someone so that if they get it you won't come out with the same drivel as you have for the past while.

2 or 3, makes no difference, the tenure was a failure, no success, no silverware, we had the black death for 4 years of it, lowest attendances in Breffni for year... some good football this year, but realistically, we couldn't beat Derry or Tyrone in the league, and we couldn't beat them in the championship.
An Ulster Final appearance was the least we should have expected, and we never came close.

Time for that chapter in Cavan Football to close and move on, however, would be very concerned with leaving the Co Board with responsibility to find a new manager...appointment of Niall Lynch as U21 manager was an unmitigated disaster...another fan of the black death tactic

So who should get it Dean. Neither here or your Facebook page says who. It's all negative and destructive. Or will you name someone so ridiculous it can never happen and you can continue to moan.

I don't think there is anyone within the county capable of being manager. Yes there could be some great no2s or selectors who could mould into the job for the future with an experienced man.
Really that should have happened 5 years ago if Terry was no2 to someone like McGrath he would probably be experienced enough now to take the job. Now not when he got it.
I just feel lack of funds will stop us appointing an outside manager so realistically it's going to be more of the same with an inexperienced man from within the county with the same limited tactics.
Money talks and we don't have any.

So why do you want rid of Hyland if you know there is no money to get this brilliant outside manager. Do you know how idiotic you come across when you argue for something that you admit cannot be done?

Yes there are people within the county but to be honest if a manager can be got within the county he would have to remove all loyalty to friends sons his own club and if he is a former senior county player he must stop listening to the know all's that whisper in his ear so and so's son is outstanding or you know your man the referee he has a good son or the grandson of a former all Ireland winner ????until this happens we will be stagnant gong no place fast.
One year on this very forum the same knockers would be shouting for his head.
If you can get a management of Three. Two selectors and a head honcho start a fresh remove those you feel are not up to it bring in those you feel have it and put your own stamp on it.
You have to be ruthless and without blinkers otherwise don't take the job. On the pitch there are more players than 15?? people seem to forget this.
