Cavan v Carlow

Replying To Cluichepeil:  "Come to think of it, it does make sense. Terry came under fire for not bringing on Johnston, changing Killians position and he got keating back in the blue jersey. Keating hasn't performed to date but will have it easy on Saturday, Seanie will kick scores with his eyes closed and killian will at well , and everyone will say how great Terry is ! And the media and supporters will get carried away . No disrespect but if we don't beat Carlow by at least 20 points I'll be shocked . And the problems will be masked again . Club fixtures should go ahead with county players and Terry shod go to as many as he can, forget pandering to those threatening to walk and those who sulk and pick the best 15 and play them in the positions suited to their ability . That's what a good manager does."
Clarke for me is a wing half back most effective there as he has the options to move forward and score which he is very capable of doing. But we are not management and they see things different than spectators/supporters.

Look, I think out defence will be stronger that the one which took to the field against Tyrone. That's a good start. Hopefully Carlow throw Murphy in full forward to give Dunne a real test in there. He needs game time there to get him back to his best and allow Clarke be selected where he can do damage, whether that be half-back, midfield or in the forwards.

I think Martin Reilly could do with the rest but would be straight back in the next time.

Does anyone know the extent of Givney's injury? Apparently didn't train in between the 2 Tyrone games. Were we right to start him?

When is the last time you saw a team line out exactly as per program. Would ye wise up criticising the management before the teams even line out.

Brendan Murphy out of the game so the chance of Carlow getting even close is out the window.... Cavan by at least 12

Yes but beware of the silent wolf: Remember the Waterford match. On paper a training session and your margin is fine but there will be nothing learnt from this game except the lad's get back the winning feeling that's all.

Poor enough performance . Only highlight was the link up play between johnston , Jack and Hayes. I always said Seanie and Jack could play on the same team. Still carrying the ball into the tackle and getting turned over time and time again. Thought we might be brave and go 15 on 15against a div 4 side but it was not to be .

Poor enough show. But expected to be honest. Only the second ever team (after Dublin) to win after a 6 day turnaround. See what happened to Monaghan and they had a day more rest. We've now got over that hurdle and we can start plotting a run through the qualifiers. Am I right in saying that we meet either Sligo, Derry or Clare/Laois? Should be looking to beat any of those teams.

Looks like Martin O'Reilly got a bad hand injury. Will need to hear about how severe that is. Keating, bar the goal, was very poor this evening. I'd try Jack next day out, or Argue if you want a target man in the absence of Givney.

Bit annoyed with our choices today. Carlow had 14 men behind the ball at times, but Mackey apart, no one tried to take on a player, get around him or draw a foul or so on. McKiernan poor at times, missed two easy frees, but got some nice scores from play. Hope he's getting his mojo back.

Finally, anyone see what happened after our second goal? Yellow for Mackey, black for Keating and a sending off for McVeety on the kick off. No one in the stand could understand what happening. Ref was poor enough at times.

Keating black must have been for backchat to umpires or ref . You can get black card for that nowadays . Agree ref wasn't great . Good job it wasn't close to call. Hopefully get a home draw . Don't fancy going to Derry especially after their win today

It was much as I expected , we did enough to get a win. I still think our work rate is not good enough. We are also committing too many fouls. Good to see Tom Hayes get a run . We need to get more scoring forwards.Mackey is certainly giving it his best this year. Looking forward to the next round.
