Imagine thinking O Rourke did a bad job, stayed in Division Two, won the Tailteann Cup and will now play in the All Ireland Series next year, brought a few new players into the mix and there was a look of hunger that was missing in Meath teams for a long time. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 19/07/2023 09:15:59 2495537 Link 0 |
I think they might go outside the county again…. As for who I can't say… as long as they have Cavan playing a better style of football than what was witnessed for the last 2/3 years that would be a start… The CB couldn't risk another year of that or one turnstile would be enough to open at Breffni…!!!

I don't think anyone is saying he did a bad job. It's just funny, as if Graham had that year, he'd have been hung and quartered by all here after losing 6 games in a row. We lost 2 in the league after promotion was assured, and everyone lost the plot...

Also a few short weeks ago, a lot of Meath folk weren't happy either

He was the brains behind Donegals 2012 All Ireland win. Any Donegal man in the know will tell you that. He wasn't there when Jim Left.

It was more the manner in which we lost those games that got to people… no fight or passion… no tactics to change things from management.. players all looked lost for ideas… You can get away with that sort of things in Division 3/4 but when we were asked big questions in the Championship or Taltainn Cup we were badly found out…. That all came as a result of poor management in previous years… Cavan would have gained promotion out of Division 4/3 if they had no manager at all in place but the Championship and Taltainn Cup showed how limited our management team were….

It's difficult to disagree with that. Different thing and different players should have been tried in the Tailteann cup. It's wasn't about winning. It was about giving the extended panel something to play for in recognition of the endless hours they put in training all year. It we played the slow , backward , lateral game we have been playing all year. No variation whatsoever. Things gone very stale and hopefully a new management team with fresh positive ideas can help move us on.

I beg that you boys go back and read what you wrote before. On one hand you say the like of this, that we should have tried more, and switched things up for the Tailteann. On the other hand you were all over the manager for losing a few pointless games, and then giving out that our underage teams are rubbish and we have no players coming through? Which is it? You are all heads I win, tails you lose kind of guys. Always negative, always giving out, and when it invariably fails, you're there to say I told you so because you've played both sides of the argument to suit yourselves and your narrative. And then revelling in it I'll tell you one thing for fact: if Graham lost 6 games like Meath did when they switched up their players, there is not a hope you'd have supported a young team, and you'd have been calling or the experienced players to be brought back in. You are such revisionists What players exactly would you have removed and who would you have played this year in the Tailteann? Losing game never bothered me because down through the years we lost plenty and we well use to it. It's the manner in how we lose them. Monaghan lost by 7 points last Saturday but fought to the bitter end .. when is the last time we did that?????? And your question regarding the panel and the Tailteann Cup. Go back over my posts , I never gave a S@@@@ about winning the Tailteann cup . It should have been used to try out the extended panel. When else were management going to get that opportunity? In Div 2? When we fighting for points? Winning or losing in the Tailteann made no difference. We not ready for the All Ireland series anyway. But it could have been used to unearth a few players. Why bring 30 players to London if you going to go with the regulars??? Bring the 2nd team and leave the regulars at home and let's see what kinda panel we have. Wake up man , players don't just appear out of nowhere , they need game time and a chance to prove themselves. Breffni1969 (Cavan) - Posts: 510 - 19/07/2023 16:29:14 2495678 Link 1 |
He came back in when Jim left and dont nothing for them at all. When he left they won 2 Ulster in a row. That the point I was making. 9 years as as manager 1 Ulster title

Look don't think I'm making a case for Gallagher. The point I'm making is the importance of a top class number 2.

It's very noticeable the 2 biggest moaners on here haven't put a single name (untouchable Rory Gallagher aside) forward between them. . .that is if it is indeed 2 different posters. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5193 - 20/07/2023 14:36:38 2495825 Link 2 |
They can't do that, as they might be wrong. They need to be able to play both sides. As if they put a name forward, and they get it and it doesn't work out, they can't be having that

Don't think there is a Manager within the county capable . Mickeys biggest downfall was the management team he had around him. It's not a 1 man job anymore. Proper experienced footballing people needed. Not athletics coaches. James Mc Cartan to me is the best that's available in Ulster and he knows how the game should be played. So what's your suggestion know it all…? Put Micky back in again I suppose is all someone like you could come up with… Just because we are not throwing names around doesn't mean what was there was up to the job…which he obviously wasn't

You by your posts have no clue about football so don't be wasting everyone's time with your pick…!

At the end of the day the CB will make up their mind on who the next manager will be… just as they made their minds up that enough was enough regarding Micky Graham…. It was let him go or let 3/4 gate men go at Breffni park as attendance figures had slumped so much…. All we can hope for is that the new manager has a different perspective on how the game should be played…. He could hardly be worse ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 3027 - 21/07/2023 10:22:54 2495933 Link 0 |
Very noticeable that the 2 biggest moaners knew who they are and both replied to you :D

Thank goodness the CB finally saw sense and rid themselves of that management team… It's a good job these decisions are not left to you Loughduff lad….
