Both unfair & ungrateful guff, in my humble opinion, after a summer of great tips provided, if I do say so myself. Not one hat tip for a couple of tasty specials offered up which came in either. Including the in form Gearoid to not score a goal, and also Mullahoran not to score a goal.

I can indeed clarify that I am not on retainer for a bookmaker. I can also clarify that the free at the end of the Kingscourt game should not have been given. That makes it 2 out 4 including an unforeseen draw. A whole different outlook if fair play had to be give.

Moving on to this weekend then, Cavan Gaels & Ramor also need look at themselves having retreated too much into their shells while comfortably ahead and making a bee line for the correct winning margin. Though I expect closer games in the replays than I did before the 1st games, I expect Gaels & Ramor to win this time around.

Happy Monday Pat. Critical Analysis of last weekends tips as follows:

The Specials were very well priced and are a great feature of this forum. I think even if was in a "for arguments sake" sort of a mood, I couldn't argue that Drumlane HT/FT at Even Money didn't turn out to be particularly well priced. That said, 1 out of 3 on the specials is less than I'd expect from you.

5 from 8 on the Actual Results is not a bad score. But you were well off the mark in the Arva & Gowna games backing against what turned out to be the much stronger teams.

You can be forgiven for the Castlerahan draw as you were just the 1 point away, and possibly for the Gowna tip given that one can only assume they would have expected the Gaels to win as well when they went to trouble of trying to get it changed to Killygarry instead.

Expecting a higher percentage hit rate but looking forward to your tips at the weekend all the same, particularly the specials."
Gaels tried to get the Gowna replay switched to Killygarry??"]The talk was that Gowna appealed their final table position, that they should be playing Killygarry and The Gaels should be playing Kingscourt. Gowna had a better score difference but Kingscourt moved above them via head to head game.
All irrelevant now anyway

what odds would you get on 5 red cards in this match should be a good boxing match rte cameras may prevent this from happening. Crosserlough should win if they concentrate on playing football and dont get involved in an arm wrestle.

3 big games this weekend

Cuchullainns v Castlerahan - Castlerahan were there for the taking last week. At times Cuchullainns looked like they didn't want to win. So many chances wasted. I could see them doing it this weekend but if they don't, they will have have big regrets. Evan Doughty is a class act and should be brought back in with the County. Castlerahan don't look fully fit. Karl Cosgrove is a big loss if he is not available. From the outset, this championship looked destined for a Ballyhaise Castlerahan final and I believe this is what we will get. Castlerahan by 2

Crosserlough v Gowna
Some people expecting this game to be a classic. I think it could be cautious. I have seen Gowna a few times this year and I am not convinced by them. I thought the Gaels were very flat. Had Lavey beat an already qualified Mullahoran, Gowna would have been out. Rte cameras will put more pressure on every play. McVeety will play inside at some point you would imagine. Outside of the usual suspects, I have been impressed with Peter Smith for Crosserlough. Haven't heard much of him before now, but give them great size around the middle third. Ryan Donohoe and the Maddens have been good for Gowna, a lot of gowna players have have missed a lot of football through injury over the past year and I think this will catch up with them on Saturday. Crosserlough by 5

Killygarry v Ramor
Ramor have been fairly poor thus far. They have obviously lost key players. Killygarry forwards are dangerous and they also get a lot of runners from deep. I'm not sure Ramor have many men suited to marking Smith and Lovett inside. I feel Killygarry could make a statement win here. They have the legs to run Ramor ragged if they can win enough ball.

Killygarry have runners from deep but they are missing Oisin Brady who is the best at breaking the line and taking a score. He was very good against Kingscourt before the red.
Ramor haven't been great but in a Semi final now so maybe they'll find form. Ado Cole hasn't been playing aswell as previous years.

Did he not get off on appeal?

Very good game in tough underfoot conditions. Gowna were more sharper,. The 2 games against Cavan Gaels brought them on. Conor Casey was excellent. He should be a key player with the U20s next year.
Crosserloughs key players were quite enough, Dara McVeety the best. Patrick lynch had a off day with the frees.

Hopefully galligan doesn't retire if lynch is next in line on frees...

Harsh enough in those conditions, and considering his age. We've seen him stroke them over from that distance easily, that rain had to be seen to be believed. Wouldn't have been easy striking off that sodden ground. Jeez we're quick to run down young players in Cavan, aren't we?

Lot of time wasted Saturday night, with the frees and stoppages in injury time. Yet the ref plays 14 seconds extra, even though a lot of the 4 mins given was wasted. Not sure why refs blow so quickly in a tight game. He could easily have allowed another minute here.

Agreed it's easy for a lad sitting on his couch to have that opinion.

Well done to Gowna and Killygarry.

Gowna deservedly won. Were much more direct in their attacking play and had numerous threats who stood up on the night. Luckily for Madden his poor goal attempt was not costly in the end. Casey at corner forward for Gowna, was very impressive. Was always a threat, seemed to have great pace/stride and 9 times out of 10 he scored or significantly contributed to a score. Gowna look pretty solid and have a strong spine to their team. Was disappointed with Crosserlough, was expecting much more from them. Few players were quiet and well marshalled, the sweeper obviously disrupted their attacking play but that is nothing new these days so should of had a plan B ready. Hard conditions at times for everyone involved.

Killygarry progress and well done, first final in over 50 years. Hopefully they do not get distracted too much this week and focus on the final as the two weeks will fly by. Won their last two knock-out games by a point - they so often used to be on the losing side of those tight contests but seem to now be able to dig out a result. They are a constant threat for goals with direct running down the middle.

Should be a good final. Think Gowna's experience of being in a final recently will stand to them and get them over the line to bring Oliver back to Lough Gowna. Either way, a new name on the trophy which can only be a good thing for the overall strength of the club scene.

The game came across great on the tele. You would have to think that Gowna have turned a corner for sure with players returning from injury and getting some match fitness along with others hitting some form.

No-one should ever be handed a medal on a plate but for me i'd love to see Martin Reilly getting one. If they did win it, that's 8 different winners in the last 10 years

Hardly running him down by telling the truth. He didn't contribute much from open play either..not a great sign. And not very inspiring when you see madden tap over a handy kick and have to watch it in trepidation and fist pump as if he'd scored a worldie. Bread and butter stuff for good natural forwards.

You think Galligan would have kicked them ? He is hardly a model of consistency and using his name to have a dig at a young player doesn't help with whatever statement you are trying to make.

Having a go at Madden now is there anyone else you want to have a dig at?

no, they were the worst performing county forwards on display.
