ah...the league....and tell us, if Cavan were so good in the league and had good balance under Hyland, how many Ulster Finals did we get to? With all the success at u21, Hyland had a conveyor belt of players coming into the senior squad, yet when it came to crunch of Championship Football, he failed abysmally. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 25/07/2022 15:50:53 2434329 Link 0 |
Losing by Monaghan twice by 1 pt when they had an all star forward They beat Monaghan under Mickey Graham but Monaghan in 19, were on the wane under O Rourke and hammered by Armagh 2020 was one off winter championship. , tipp winning Munster, Cavan winning Ulster. He was a tad unlucky with the draw in those years… Mickey Graham got to 2 Ulster Finals granted winning one in the middle of winter on a ground never used for a final…but look what he has done since ..! Got us relegated to basement football for the first time in our history and when that landed us in the Mickey Mouse Cup he managed to loose that as well…. He was a lucky manager in his opening couple of years but that luck has run out a long time ago now…. Time to get rid and install a proper management team….

A tad harsh but I would agree it's time for a fresh start but we need to get our act together and appoint someone it's getting late and a manager should be watching county championship

Losing to Monaghan twice by 1 pt when they had an All-Star Forward....and on the wane....lol.....this was the same Monaghan team that had just beaten Mayo & Tyrone, and drew with All Ireland Champions in Division one of the league! Mickey beat them when they had 4 All-Stars! A one off winter championship? you mean when conditions were difficult for all teams? cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 26/07/2022 09:25:36 2434451 Link 0 |
More HS from the resident expert on this forum Dunne walked away because he wasent committed enough end of story Hyland team played great football in his last year in division 2 and the final deciding game against Galway in Breffni was as good a game of football as you would see any where his results in the championship were poor. Comer is one of the best forwards in ireland and yet Galway could not get the ball to him on sunday any star forward is now double or treble marked should Comer now give up because he is not enjoying his game. You now say the tailteann cup is a mickey mouse competition such arrogance its the only competition than 28 county teams in ireland have any chance of winning and you turn up your nose at it go and follow man city and give us all a break.

Lads we could appoint Jim Gavin and Brian Cody and win 10 All Irelands in a row in football and hurling and foreverblue2 and his ilk would still be on here complaining about the league or the style of play or whatever. Just curmudgeons that will never change. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12199 - 26/07/2022 10:53:28 2434478 Link 1 |
And I don't remember your Donegals having any trouble beating us whatever the conditions over the years or what time of year it was so 2020 was a massive achievement whatever way you look at it.

correct and right....2020 was a momentous achievement having not won an Ulster Championship since 1997. What they also failed to mentioned that we also reached the Ulster Final the year before that during the Summer. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 26/07/2022 13:18:26 2434545 Link 0 |
It's a Mickey Mouse competition for teams in Division 3/4 but those on here say under Mickey Graham we are now competitive in the Ulster Championship…. what a joke…. He is the same guy that led us into the Taltainn Cup but couldn't get the job done there so how in hell are we supposed to be competitive in Ulster….? You went back a long way to find a great game involving Cavan ….if you went any further back we would be nearly in black and white….. Funny how Galway had no problem getting the ball to Shane Walsh….maybe Kerry never heard of him or the more likely case is that Comer is away overrated….!!!

So you are happy with been relegated to Division 3/4… Winning the 2020 Ulster title was great but one has to move on …. what has happened since then has been nothing short of a disgrace… You must have no pride at all..

On a different note what do posters think of the mark rule in Gaelic football… I think it's the most stupidest rule the GAA have brought in awarding a free for rising in the air to catch the ball isn't it part of the skill of Gaelic football to see a player leaping in the air to field a high ball without having to put his hand in the air to claim a free and of course he'll be tackled and under pressure but that was always the case so why change it players are getting soft frees all the time because of it. Westmeath should get you to present their Mickey Mouse medals to their team when they come to celebrate their great victory I drive you up myself at least it would be the last we would hear from you.

You will see what it was when they are in a group next season getting hammered out the gate… We actually might have dodged a bullet the way we are playing….!!!!

Agree totally with you… it's silly that a player in the forward line gets a free in for catching the ball… is that not what he is supposed to do…. I think it should be confined to kick outs that go the requisite distance….or do away with it all together…!

Two Ulster Final appearances in 4 years between 2019 and 2022, winning our first since 1997! Is that now competitive in Ulster? Now go back to the time before Graham took over and tell us when was the last time we reached 2 Ulster Finals in a row and won an Ulster Final.........can you get back to us before c.o.b today please.

When a game is over in 10 minutes (2019 Final) doesn't mean you are competitive… We won the 2020 Final after Donegal took their eye of the ball in what was a more than strange campaign… what has happened since (relegated to Div 4) has been shocking….. Do you honestly think our team and the way they performed v Sligo or Westmeath would have a snowball's chance in hell up against Armagh/ Tyrone/Derry or Donegal if they met….? Just because we got hammered in one Ulster Final and completely fluked our way into the next one in no way says we are competitive in Ulster…. We are in the Mickey Mouse Taltainn Cup for God's sake… Have a bit of wit…!

Stop changing the subject by reverting back to the league and answer the question. You said we weren't competitive in Ulster under Mickey Graham. I stated that in the 4 years under Mickey Graham, we reached two Ulster Finals and won one of them. We also beat Monaghan, twice I think over those few years, something that we failed to do for a long time. Now, answer the question, when was the last time Cavan reached two Ulster Finals in the space of two years? When was the last time Cavan won an Ulster Final before 2019. Forget about your flukes and your winter competition, the fact is, under Mickey Graham, we are now able for any team in Ulster, something that we weren't under the previous two managers. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 27/07/2022 13:31:31 2434858 Link 0 |
