You are aware both of them were educated in and played football at school for Kells CBS/ Community School. Last I checked that's in Meath. So no connection to Meath is totally incorrect ;)

So that makes them fine Meath men? They went to secondary school in Kells. Lots of Counties have players who went to school in Another County. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 02/12/2021 14:50:47 2391438 Link 0 |
Did you read the post i replied too? Poster claimed they'd no connection to Meath when they clearly did. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 02/12/2021 17:34:50 2391476 Link 0 |
I was replaying to your original point of 3 players on the 97 Cavan team being Meath men. A connection doesn't make them Meath men. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 03/12/2021 10:02:53 2391514 Link 0 |
Must be no crack on the Meath threads. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 03/12/2021 10:15:30 2391516 Link 0 |
Strange one the Jordan Morris one, it's still unconfirmed as far as I know and have heard locally it's a rumour - but I'm surprised it was allowed. hyperache (Meath) - Posts: 251 - 04/12/2021 16:13:58 2391649 Link 0 |
Does the father rule not apply here? I know a lot of stock is placed in your fathers home club, which is Kingscourt in this case. An easy one to push through if so. There doesn't necessarily need to be a distance or anything between the two clubs, just that he has that link.

Dunno why it's being allowed at all. You're right from what I've heard his father and grandfather both played for the Stars but given it's a short distance why would he need to do it. I'll use the Raymond Cunnigham example initially stayed with Kilmainhamwood whilst on the Cavan panel and transferred for a couple of years to the Stars, but he was playing Handball for them since he was a gasun so it was a very cut and dry transfer. This rumored Jordan Morris transfer just sits terribly. He played as his juvenile football etc with Nobber and now suddenly he wants to play elsewhere and turn his back on the people from Nobber who took time to train him, bring him to matches etc.

Have actually heard from a decent source the transfer is true, and apparently he even lives in Kingscourt now. I just think it's all in poor taste and as you said, it's a kick in the face to people in Nobber. I mean Nobber play at a decent level, is playing for Kingscourt going to be any better?

All I'm saying is the store the GAA place in your fathers club, we see it often. May sit terribly with you, but it is what it is re that. The GAA just go with that one, and distance doesn't seem to matter. He has a link to the club...

He probably thinks he will shoot the lights out in what he must perceive as a lower level of Championship football…..

Get over it lads it's within the rules and the lad can play for Kingscourt if that's his wish. RHF (Cavan) - Posts: 878 - 08/12/2021 18:41:41 2392126 Link 0 |
Dont know what the big fuss is about - he has always lived in Kingscourt , went to school there , works there , started his underage football there , he s only coming back.

On what grounds can Ramor players transfer to Oldcastle? Breffnisbest (Cavan) - Posts: 473 - 21/12/2021 07:46:01 2393373 Link 0 |
it used to be a Rule in Cavan that you couldn't play for the County if you didn't play for a senior club team. I'd love if this was brought back in (just like the Gaels are doing) as it might raise the standard, when playing at a high level week in week out.

That would be a disastrous rule to bring in …. Cavan won the Ulster title in 1997 with some of their most influential players coming from Junior clubs…. Posters are trying all sorts of excuses for the current embarrassing situation our senior county team finds themselves in….
