I wouldn't say we are guaranteed to stay iin Div 2 but we are no longer a team looking over our shoulder. These lads are raising the bar for themselves and strike me as a group with aspirations. And I think they have earned the right to be taken seriously. Sure, the bubble could burst, but you have to be proud of their spirit. Let's keep on taking it one game at a time. We have Clare in the park next Sunday and they will be desperate to stay out of the relegation spots given the two tier Championship during the summer. Division 2 will be tougher next year than this." agreed, We have been lucky recently that when we are in div 1 , 2 of the big guns are div 2 and then when we go down the big guns have gone up so it's imperative that we get up this year or we may never get up. Donegal are not a div 2 team and neither are Mayo. I would claim that Donegal are the 3rd or 4th best team in the country (behind Dublin and Kerry) and vying for the next slots with Monaghan and Galway. I don't think Meath are necessarily top 8. Roscommon have a fair claim to that, we would if it were based on league of course, but to be honest I don't really care. A win against Clare is vital. We could still get dragged into a relegation dogfight and the last two games will be tough. Hoping for a big crowd to support the lads on Sunday and get behind them. Good luck to the team and management for the remainder of the league and championship. They have all answered the call and are giving their all for our county. The last time we won an Ulster it was with a bunch of players who kept going until they won they didn't bugger off and paint themselves to be some kinds of martyrs. Those players contributed to Cavan football long after as well by coaching and managing teams. Forget about the deserters and appreciate the men who are sticking with the County. They are not deserters deserter definition: 1. a person who leaves the armed forces without permission Firstly they are not in the army. Secondly they are not contracted or bound to play for the county. Thirdly, they don't have to seek anyone's permission to leave. If they can't commit 100% then they are right to leave, be that for family, work or anything else, it's their business and no one else's. I'm pretty sure there were lads who trained all winter only to be dropped, so it works in reverse. The lads who leave are not deserters, defectors or any other derogatory term who can think of. They simply left for reasons which were important to them. If they were forced to stay there would be a negative effect on moral. So dismount your high horse. There's more to live than football. Also ex- players are entitled to their opinion. Everyone has an opinion. We don't all have to agree with you or anyone else. Most panelists are ex-players. I've a right to an opinion too The current crop of players are trying their best despite your love of those who walked You know the whinging ex players down the pub who bore the bejaysus out of everyone with their bull, or are you deliberately ignoring that? If you have the talent, stick with it, and push on, don't look for the praise given by people like you with low standards and little loyalty.
