I thought you didn't care what McHugh said but anyway... Was he right? Donegal players were going into a squad that won a senior all Ireland 18 months beforehand. Do you really think there's a big quality difference between McVeety and McHugh? Or Holla and the other McHugh lad?

Cavan have got more out of that U21 side than Donegal did from theirs. Never mind counting silverware it's a crude measurement stick.

Silverware is the measurement stick that's the reality of it. It's not about producing individual footballers or if 1 from another county is better than 1 of ours.
It's about jelling a team together. Experience with upincomming talent.
To say that Cavan got more out of the u21s that Donegal did is the most ludicrous statement I've ever heard on this site.
These Donegal lads have played and won all Ireland and Ulster's. why? Because they were managed properly.
By a manager that we turned our nose up at.

Donegal won the All Ireland in 2012. Since then they haven't won one. They were playing Division 1 football, now they are Division 2. So it can be very reasonably argued that their 2014 u21s didn't improve their team.

In 2012, Cavan survived relegation to Division 4 thanks to an already relegated Tipp beating Offally. Now we are playing in Division 1. 13 of the team which started the 2014 u21 ulster final have played for Cavan in the meantime. So it can be very reasonably argued that our 2014 u21s did improve our team.

Silverware is the measurement stick... So Barry John Keane is surely better than Ciaran McDonald, look at all of his medals! Mayo must be the third best team in Connacht over the past 4 years given that Galway and Roscommon have the silverware?

I think you are confused... How many of the 2014 U21s went on to play Senior Football for Donegal? Do you even know?

Off course silverware means a lot once it's an important trophy.
Position standing and holding your own with the best in the country helps a lot also.
Playing the best produces the best and it also gives the genuine supporters something to talk about.

Ryan McHugh, Eoin McHugh, Eamon Doherty, Ciarán Thompson, Darrach Ó Connor, Hugh McFadden,, Paddy McBrearty maybe 1 or 2 more have featured for Donegal at Senior level from that team.

Thompson a classy operator. McBrearty one of the best forwards in the country when fit. Ryan McHugh a 2 time all Stár. Donegal getting relegated last year is hardly a slight. They played good stuff and unlucky to go down.

I'd say roughly 7 and I'd also say 2/3 played in the senior all Ireland the same year.
Your obsessed with individuals been better than other individuals.
It's a team game . But as you can see from your posts it's always been about the individual in Cavan , that's why we are where we are.
Teamwork, team game , spread the word.

Hold on! When we were winning Ulster titles at under 21 level, playing as a team, YOU were one of the most vocal on here (so many usernames ago I'm lost at this point) slating Terry Hyland for not letting forwards express themselves. Your above post is completely hypocritical!

I never once stated the u21s but I did the Seniors for their Black Death style as Brolly once said.
You'd be taken off if you went forward in those days.
Bottom line is we always thought we were lots better than we really were. And that mentality goes back 20 years. 1 Ulster with the point that never was not much to show for 50 years of Senior football.

Here, let me get to the core of the argument for y'all.

Donegal are a better team than Cavan, and have been for many years now.

Y'all are welcome to rebut that.

Are we all aware that Cavan are just 4 days away from a monumental fixture against Monaghan?

One that could tilt the balance of power back in our favour going into the championship?

Just checking, because it seems to be lost on here in favour petty squabbles. No change there I suppose.

It's the same old same old running down your county instead of getting behind and supporting it! We have a good new management team, good new s +c coach, we are in div 1, we are playing better attacking football and the same posters keep their negative and unhelpful comments going, leave the past in the past and go and enjoy supporting your county or else support Dublin and you can't go wrong.

Nobody running down anything. You got clowns on here stating our players are better than the Donegal players from underage era.
Well sadly they not. Give me Ryan Mc Hugh or Patrick Mc brearty any day over anything we produced at underage level this past 9 years.
Least they know where the posts are.

Nobody said underage era. I said 2014. Keep up.

Have you ever considered a move to Donegal? You sound very fond of them...

Dear God. Id give Kieran Duffy, Colin Walshe, Kieran Hughes, Darren Hughes and Jack Mc Carron for Ryan Mc Hugh. Arguably one of the fastest and best young footballers in the country. I wouldn't give one of the named players for Reilly, Clarke Or faulkner. Delusional is not the word.
