Well done lads , it's in our own hands now, Some excellent performances. K Clarke done a great job on Enda smith, Niall Murray and Conor Moynagh were excellent, everyone played well. blueman1903 (Cavan) - Posts: 885 - 25/02/2019 08:27:52 2167824 Link 1 |
Great to be looking down the table at Monaghan. It appears they caught Dublin at the perfect time for an ambush. They've been poor enough since that game and we have a great chance to beat them in Clones. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 575 - 25/02/2019 09:22:54 2167847 Link 1 |
That's the first game where Clarke has stayed at midfield and it was specifically to mark Smith which he did superbly. Mickey Graham said after the game they decided they needed someone more athletic there so he got his match up right. Clarke may go back to the full back line in the next game. The good thing about the win yesterday was that there are items to improve on. Its not like we gave our all to get over the line. We had a comprehensive win but there are definite improvements that can be made e.g. shooting. Also, one or two of our normally consistent players weren't stand out yesterday so it was good to see others come to the fore when they had an off day. Tyrone away is going to be very tough but another good performance and hopefully another couple of players back for the Monaghan game would be huge. No sign of the cork man and his negative posts after the win yesterday. theham (Cavan) - Posts: 91 - 25/02/2019 15:58:51 2168054 Link 1 |
There is a few on here have nothing to say when there is a good performance and fill up pages with negative stuff when we lose. You'd have to wonder about the mentality of such people. Yesterday was a very good performance and plenty to improve on. Killian was massive at midfield, moynagh was excellent, mcvitty pulled the strings, Niall Murray had a super game and Madden got two brilliant goals. At least we know we belong in Div 1 when we can give a drubbing to a decent team like Roscommon (Super 8 team from last yr). Brilliant to see Gerry Smith back on the field - really looking forward t o seeing him get up to speed. Now lets take the bit of momentum up to Omagh next week and see what we can do. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 25/02/2019 16:46:42 2168075 Link 2 |
Fair is fair and it's nice to get one over the Rossies by such a convincing manner. Monaghan are beatable but unfortunately Tyrone are getting results when they need them. Dubs are a totally different animal. Beat Monaghan and a draw with Tyrone would see us safe but it won't be easy. Nice to hear the RTÉ pundits say we're heading in the right direction. The problem is posters keep interacting with these people.

Thank you for your post. As I was not at the match yesterday due to being ill and today also. I don't comment on games that I don't see. I just logged on to see how things were going with this topic. My posts are not negative but close to the truth that I am allowed to go by HS. A brilliant win yesterday and long overdue. I worry however that it took the sending off of the Roscommon player for Cavan to take the reins but I will not use it as an excuse for as I said I did not see the game. I worry about this for this will not happen for every game. So have we learnt anything I am not sure but I hope they go on and take 3 more points for I feel 5 points will keep them safe. Will Tyrone lay down I fear not Will Monaghan lay down I fear not but I feel this is a must win game for both teams. Will they get change from Dublin no chance. So unfortunately I fear we lost the chance to remain in Division one by losing against Mayo and Galway. There will be loads of positives from this off course and the players will feel a new spring in their steps and long may it continue. At the start of the league I predicted a draw from Galway Mayo and Roscommon but I got all three wrong lol. I hope I will get to see next weeks game all going well. I am a good paying supporter of Cavan and I hate to see them losing like many that pay to go to see them play. The best of luck next week and for the remainder of the league. I had to edit this post as HG would not post my original post as is the norm when one is border line with their reply. Off course it dose not apply to all ????. STRANGE. We'll know we're a division one team IF we don't get relegated. It's literally that simple.

Regarding 4 points it is possible to stay up on 4 Roscommon have the following games left Dublin (H) Galway (A) Kerry (H) Monaghan have the following games Kerry (A) Cavan (H) Mayo(A) If Ros lose all 3 game, which is not a stretch, or even just get a draw from one of them, they would be on 4 points Assuming we beat Monaghan to get to 4 points and they lose to Kerry and Mayo, they would finish on 2 points. If Cavan and Ros finish on 4 points it would go to the head to head which we have the best on. If Monaghan would get to 4 points along with us, it could go to the head to head too so our game with them is critical. If 3 teams are on 4 points it will go on scoring difference. We are current -1, Monaghan -6 and Ros -8. So that is tight enough. In summary we could have a chance to stay up with 4, 5 I think would increase our chances. Big risks as I see it is the last round of games we will almost certainly lose to Dublin but will Mayo and Kerry be already safe and not too bothered about winning the last games? fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 26/02/2019 10:26:19 2168263 Link 1 |
