Think he's talking about 93 or 94"]Yea it was 93 and Cavan were blowing leads back then too, 5 points up going into the last quarter in Blaney and ended up drawing and in the replay Monaghan beat us for the first time in 60 years in Breifne, also the following year we found ourselves leading by 6 points towards the latter end of the game but still managed to lose. Ah those were the days when on the back of an Ulster winning U21 team of 1988 we didn't win a game in the Senior championship until 1995, 7 years on the trot without a win and we think we have it bad these days."]Yep memories are flooding back now. Think Ray McCarron scored a peach of a goal that day. Cavan brought on the great man Donal Keoghan who scored a great point to give us another day out. Maybe Tom Smith might confirm.

I see Jason and figs and the two Murray's are back for down game, a bit of good news anyway, after been down in the dumps about the referee.

Not being petty at all, just expressing a well reflected opinion like yourself. I attended 5 of our league games and still don't know how we won them. The Down and Tipp games are good examples. They both carved through our defence at will, but to the credit of the players, they rode their luck and spirited us the wins and promotion. We were very lucky and luck eventually runs out. Ross gave us a taste in the league final of where we are and what lies ahead in Div 1 under this manager. In particular our defence, especially our full back line, was exposed. It's very simple. Any team that runs at us with pace will prosper. Fail to prepare....The most frustrating part is that we will have to wait until this time next year to get a new manager. Hopefully the selection process will be more proactive next time and we won't leave it too late and have to give this important responsibility to one of the last available candidates. We need a top class proven manager who knows what he's doing and has the confidence of our best players.

If Clones wasn't available Blayney would definitely host a Monaghan championship game. Indeed, rather than play such an important game outside the county, Inniskeen would host it too. Lots of other counties have alternatives to their main county ground. Shelbourne (Monaghan) - Posts: 567 - 13/06/2018 21:50:57 2111293 Link 0 |

It wouldn't be allowed these days. If Blaney could hold it, Kingscourt definitely could

He may not have had 5 years but he still has 4 winning U21 sides and a minor side to pick from, lads who at this stage should be much more experienced senior footballers and hitting or at their peak, as has being reported in the Celt recently these lads haven't gone away most are still playing with their clubs..

I merely asked for information and was told by Cavan posters that most counties only have 1 ground capable of holding inter county championship matches. By the way I believe Cavan will beat Down in Brewester but would you like to cede home advantage against a top team....even for one summer ? Can you not ask a question without being questioned? Is this not an internet online forum? The poster seems to always have a lot to say on Cavan football and wondering where it stems from. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 16/06/2018 13:24:06 2112087 Link 0 |
To quote your good self...'Can I not ask a question without being questioned' ..........my original question was to find out if there were any other designated grounds in Cavan for Ulster Championship football....that's all.......don't see anything controversial in that ! Lots of people participate in other county forums from time to time and in my opinion it adds to the quality of debate except that is for the few 'wind up' merchants who contribute nothing positive and just annoy everyone ! And the topic is Qualifiers not who qualifies to post. Or where they are from.
