Didnt see the game but by all accounts Gaels were in 1st gear. I'd take note of how teams are moving a couple of weeks before championship. Gaels playing Gowna in Breffni in summer would be a no contest. YOUWONTCODME (Cavan) - Posts: 125 - 09/04/2018 17:11:29 2091906 Link 0 |
Clearly a Gaels supporter and i didn't mean to ruffle your feathers i was just giving some credit to the Gowna boys credit for putting it up to the "top 2" and commenting on how the Southern Gaels amalgamation might start paying off. Long year ahead yet and it will be Castlerahans year!!!!

Im actually a Drumalee supporter but I like to keep an eye on my neighbours. It will be Castlerahans year? How many times have I heard that one?????? They play a lovely brand of attacking football alright (eyeball) There will be alot of twists and turns like every year. As I said before lets see where teams are a few weeks before the championship. Not like a Drumalee man to be praising the Gaels!!!. In saying that they have set the benchmark for other teams to aspire to. That kind of competition can only be good for club football in general. The Gaels going unbeaten last year probably sets them a target to continue that , and other clubs a target of being the first club to defeat them. So it sets for an interesting year on the club front. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 10/04/2018 11:09:03 2092029 Link 0 |
What the gaels did last year was brilliant and no doubt are the top team in cavan at present but the championship is way more open then people think. The gaels have only won 2 championships since 2012? hardly overly dominant. I know the boys over in virginia will have a few things to say this year after the year of injuries and boys on J1s last summer too. Championship is far from open, the Gaels are the team to beat, and if they perform in anyway at all, they'll win it at their ease. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 10/04/2018 15:36:14 2092130 Link 0 |
Talk about getting ahead of yourself. .. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 10/04/2018 15:55:41 2092138 Link 0 |
So Castlerahan will win it and the boys in Virginia will have something to say? Gaels are your third favourites then?? They may have won two championships since 2012, but..... They know how to win them, Can Castlerahan say the same? Ramor have won one championship in 30 odd years and no show last year. Kingscourt look like a team in decline and minus Barry Tully and Colm Smith this year are a team that know how to win them but have run their race. After that you have Lacken who have never threatened to win a senior championship since I dont know when..... YOUWONTCODME (Cavan) - Posts: 125 - 10/04/2018 16:39:46 2092166 Link 0 |
That just about sums it up perfectly

Sacked because they lost away to Kingscourt? Hardly much shame in that.

I'm led to believe that Declan Sheridan is still manager of Killygarry, but its amazing how much traction one post can gather...... cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 12/04/2018 11:50:00 2092545 Link 0 |

You can make up anything on this forum sometimes, and it will be believed... cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 256 - 12/04/2018 11:50:00 209254 I thought he was as well and would be surprised that a club would sack their manager at the start of the season . I suppose once again idle chat cavanblueman but not nice. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 12/04/2018 13:52:28 2092580 Link 0 |
Cavan Gaels Ramor game 5 reds and 4 or 5 blacks but i dont blame either team ref letting gaels boys punch lads in the face early on and that really set the tone of the game. In the end 3 penos decided the game. Neither team nowhere near full strength and was to be honest a terrible game, just as well it blew up 10 mins early. Kingscourt come back from a bad lacken loss to beat Castlerahan. All in the air EastCavan (Cavan) - Posts: 183 - 15/04/2018 16:10:19 2093108 Link 0 |

But they lost to lacken 2 weeks ago. Youd expect them to beat killygarry ( i know they struggled in championship) but then to beat castlerahan. good signs

Was at Ramor Cavan Gaels match and it would depress you. First off the referee didn't seem to have any control . He let loads of bad tackles go unpunished in the first half.never showed a card at all. Then in the second half he starts with the red then goes on to the black and finally shows a few yellows. The match was being videoed by a least one of the Clubs and who ever is in charge of refereeing in Cavan should request a copy of the video and use it for training in the future. marita (None) - Posts: 468 - 16/04/2018 08:22:29 2093192 Link 0 |
Ack it wasn't that bad, (poor refereeing aside) one or two Ramor players were given extra attention by the visitors and the Ramor lads backed up their own........it happens
