Tullamore are Offaly senior football champions for the second time in three years after battling past Ferbane to a 1-5 to 0-6 victory at a rain-soaked O’Connor Park.
In the tough conditions, Tullamore opened the scoring after seven minutes with a Harry Plunkett (free) before Jack Clancy got Ferbane up and running at the other end.
Luke Plunkett buried in a crucial goal for the 2021 champions on 13 minutes and, from there, they’d go on to lead by 1-2 to 0-3 at the half.
Cian Johnston’s point two minutes into the restart left the minimum between the sides but Nigel Bracken cancelled it out before a dry spell of 20 minutes without scores in this decider.
When the next one eventually arrived, it came the way of Tullamore via John Furlong in the 58th minute.
A pair of Johnston frees kept the heat for Ferbane in injury-time ahead of Michael Brazil’s free putting a seal on Tullamore’s 29th SFC triumph.
