Cork star Patrick Horgan says that club grounds re-opening this past June came as a huge relief to him.

The Rebel County’s all-time top scorer turned 32 at the start of the summer and, speaking on Sky Sports’ Inside The Game, he said he was delighted to get back out on the field after potentially of losing out on a season at his age.

"It was like starting hurling all over again," Horgan said when recounting the first training session back with his club Glen Rovers.

"Just running out on the grass, not knowing what direction you're running. It was obviously exciting for everyone. You'd be following the rules, washing the hands a million times during training before and after, just to make sure you don't get locked out of the pitch again!

"But, yeah, we were all delighted to be back in some way, just to meet up and have a few pucks around.

“We didn't think we'd get this far, to finish the championship. But it's been unreal so far to be fair."
