Mary Immaculate College booked their place in the business end of the Fitzgibbon Cup courtesy of a comfortable 4-24 to 1-19 round 2 win over LIT today.

Gary Cooney (2), Tim O’Mahony and Philip Wall netted the goals for the Jamie Wall managed outfit.

LIT’s cause wasn’t helped by the first-half dismissals of Conor McCarthy and Barry McDonagh.

Wexford star Rory O’Connor pointed seven frees as DCU also advanced to the last eight. They got the better of hosts Maynooth University by 1-20 to 1-12.

Substitute Sean Currie bagged their goal at the start of the second-half.

Ciaran Kirwan (2), Eddie Meaney and Conal Flood raised green flags as WIT secured their quarter-final ticket thanks to a convincing 4-23 to 0-12 win over TU Dublin.

Stephen Condon top scored for the Fintan O’Connor managed outfit with 0-11.

UL got the disappointment of their round 1 defeat at the hands of DCU out of their system with a commanding 3-21 to 0-13 round 2 success over Trinity College Dublin.

Cian Darcy (2) and Ronan Lynch found the back of the Dublin college’s net.

Meanwhile, holders UCC overcame Cork IT by 0-22 to 0-15 in Group C at the Mardyke to seal their quarter-final place.

Shane Kingston and Shane Conway hit 0-7 and 0-5 respectively for the winners.
