Romer: I wasn't punched, I tripped

Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly
The Kilmaley minor mentor at the centre of the fracas involving Anthony Daly has insisted that he wasn't punched.
Graphic pictures show the Dublin hurling manager and others involved in a melee towards the end of Kilmaley's 1-16 to 1-5 win over Daly's Clarecastle in Clare MHC 'A' final at Sixmilebridge on Saturday.
Clarecastle manager Tom Howard and Romer were sent off by the referee when calm was restored.
"Look, the reality is things like this are all part of the game," Romer is quoted as saying in today's Irish Daily Star.
"But because 'Daler' is a high profile manager people seized on it, when the reality is it's finished."
Romer - who is currently appealing against a separate 48-week ban following on from an incident in an earlier club game - added: "I wasn't punched, I tripped."
