Clare's joint minor hurling management team of Donal Moloney and Jerry O'Connor have stepped up to take over the reins of the county's Under 21 side for 2012.

Both men were ratified at Monday night's county board meeting, having spent three years over the minors, after chairman Michael O'Neill had proposed their appointment.

They succeed Eamonn Fennessy in the post, although he is expected to become part of the new minor management team which will be finalised in "the next week or two", according to Mr O'Neill.

"I would expect the majority of the players that we have had at minor level in the past three years will be in contention for places on the panel, while we are hoping that a couple of other will have come through," Moloney told the Clare Champion this week. Tweet
