Eire Og retain their Clare senior football championship title thanks to a 0-9 to 0-6 victory over Ennistymon at Cusack Park this afternoon.
Captain Gavin Cooney’s 0-6 contribution over the hour proved key for the Ennis in what was a low-scoring and cagey decider in the Banner County.
Cooney (2) and Ikem Uqwueu were the only scorers for the holders during the opening half-four, as they went in leading 0-3 to 0-1 at half-time.
Cillian Rouine saw a goal chance superbly stopped by Eire Og ‘keeper Shane Daniels after the turnaround and, from there, Cooney would nudge his side five in front to help ensure the title was staying in Ennis for another year.
TweetAs sponsors of the Clare Championships County Final today, we congratulate Eire Og Ennis on their tremendous win today over Ennistymon. 🏆
