Replying To gowna02:  "6 of our u21s that got hammered by donegal who got hammered by dublin have been called into our senior squad."
Are you happy with yourself, describing the players like that?

Why not just say that six players were promoted or six players that hammered Fermanagh got promoted?

Maybe we should drop six of the senior players that were well beaten by Dublin, Donegal and Roscommon.

What 6 would you drop Skelling?
There 16 I'd drop of the Senior panel . But we have nobody else.
Promoting 6 of this years u21s is fruitless if we are expecting them to play a part as they have no Senior experience.
They could easily have been used in the McKenna cup and early rounds of the league to gain Senior experience , then sent back for the u21 comp.

I have found myself more and more reluctant to post to this forum as it has become the realm of bitter and twisted posts that betray nothing except the character of the posters. I notice that many more have disappeared. What is the point of posting such nasty thoughts about players especially those who are still to show their true potential. For what it's worth, the five mentioned above plus Connolly, Bradley and others are all capable of playing inter county football and I believe that they will.

I wouldn't drop anyone. I was suggesting that dropping six players made as much sense as not promoting any U-21s just because they lost heavily to Donegal. If they're good enough promote them and don't judge them because the team they were on lost one game.

As sceptical says, this forum is a joke and a place for cheap shots to be made.

Yeah this forum has become a hive of negativity. It always is the same contributors. I notice one anyway has dissapeared but has being replaced straight away. Their IP addresses should really be compared.

Donegal were very disappointing but looked a bit jaded... their postponed game with Cavan was prob their downfall but done themselves no favours with their slow ponderous build up... If Galway can play as well in the Final there is no reason they can't beat this Dublin team who are no great shakes...

Did young Brady play any matches he had a broken wrist I think and I noticed he had a bandage on it last night but I expect these players are for the future just getting senior experience and if they can fit in on a match day why not. We have to start someplace.

Cavan play Wicklow in a few weeks ,in the Junior Championship. Those u21s will likely be involved in that first off.

Skelling there nobody giving cheap shots about the u21 players.
What is actually unfair on u21 players is to expect them to come in now and perform at Senior level with no experience.
Why could potential Seniors involved in the u21 team not have played McKenna cup and early rounds of the league to gain experience???
Then they could have returned to the u21 set up. Mattie actually wanted 3/4 u21s in the Senior panel and was refused.
Why?
It's the system that's wrong. The system where u21s are wrapped up in cotton wool until their competition is over and then expected to make the transition to the Senior squad .
That's not how you blood players in my eyes.
Let's follow Donegals lead and let players play Senior football if their good enough regardless of age.
Just like Donegal did this year and previously with mcBrearty and the mchughs .
That's how the system should work.

I enjoy reading conflicting views.
If everyone had the same opinions then it would just be a "mutual appreciation society" and serving no purpose because there would be no alternative viewpoints.
I enjoy reading everyone's comments, even those I disagree with.
Some people don't obviously like having their opinions questioned.

That's your opinion Awwwnow and that's fine.

My problem was how gowna02 phrased his pots, nothing more.

It could be argued that Donegal's U-21 players that are on the senior panel were too tired to beat Dublin considering they were playing Sunday-Wednesday for quite a few weeks in a row.

I don't remember you making this argument at the start of the U-21 championship either. Nothing like looking for a reason that something didn't go well, especially where blame can be handed out.

I've argued this point since 2015 . The transition from u21 to Senior is tough especially this time of the year for players with no Senior experience.
Yes our system worked well when we were winning u21 titles but above average u21 should be introduced during McKenna cup to help the Senior panel.. all we need is 2/3 additions each year.
Now we are faced with a situation where we need to blood u21s in the height of the championship.
Lads who haven't yet played Senior football. And it's unfair to expect them to step up this quick.
Mattie wan tie a few u21s in his panel earlier in the year.

Nobody said anything about opposing views.

The point (the one you were replying to) is the forum is a hive of negativity.

Well there wasn't much to be positive about with a 14 point thumping in fairness.
Hopefully we will not go out in the first round of the C/ship and that will cheer posters up.

That's a good one to add to the list.

A post that intentionally misses the point followed by a glib remark.

Keep them coming. We're getting places.

I would love know of all those positives you suggest we should recognise.

Slasher, it'd help if you opened your eyes and read what my and other posts said.

I could spell it out for you but it's all there in black and white.

Afraid I couldn't find your positive post.

If it was that Donegal had an off-day against Dublin or that Cavan U.21's only lost one match then I feel there must be more than that.
