Declan - earlier on this thread you got snotty with me for saying something similar about the minor manager who has managed one win in 3 years (against Fermanagh). What's the difference? At least this Down team was ok, like they won Ulster and the Cavan manager is in his 1st season at the helm. The minor team were beaten by Fermanagh, who got a completely destroyed by Tyrone at the weekend finishing 3 years of total failure.

Fred, there is a limit to a man's patience and l didn't like individuals being scapegoated i didn't point the finger at any one person l said the whole system has to be dismantled. The malaise in Cavan football is not the fault of any one individual the rot is from top to bottom. Declankillann. declankillann (Dublin) - Posts: 83 - 09/08/2021 11:37:44 2369058 Link 0 |
Hi all haven't been posting for a while but reading the posts most days there seems to be a lot of disquiet in my native Co at the moment as someone living across the water for a number of years I don't really get to keep up with club matters in my home Co just reading your posts. There seems to be a lot of boasting about Cavan Gaels and what they've won down the years and it's very commendable I believe but can anyone tell me has any Cavan club ever won a all Ireland club championship I don't recall that happening when's the last time a Cavan senior club won Ulster never mind an AI so until one does they should keep quiet. I feel that has a bearing on our Co team as well and part of the reason we only win Ulster once in a blue moon. Declan your correct there is something seriously wrong with football in the co at the moment and has been for a while we'll never be competitive until we have success at underage level every co in Ulster are way in front of us why is that I watched Monaghan vDown u20 in aww and wishing it was us. Then Offaly vCork look what Offaly have done from the ashes brilliant Why are Monaghan even Fermanagh doing so well at underage both small counties. Would be nice to get some answers from the people in power.

Yes there is a limit to a mans patience and mine ran out when we lost to Fermanagh and this management team were beaten out the gate 3 years in a row. And yes there is more than the management of the minors that should be run and again I said that in my previous post too. The person who oversees football development in Cavan has failed in their role -its really that simple. It is their job to bring it all together- the coaches, the schools, the correct management teams etc etc.

Fred we were awful lucky to have lost to Fermanagh God only knows what Tyrone would have done to us. The fourteen point hammering DOWN gave us would have been small beer in comparison. Look lets live in hope and when hope fails lets continue to hope for instance, l am following the Cavan camogie team at the moment - bless their souls!
