The league?

So you win the league with your club, colleges with schoolboys. Few Micky mouse coaching badges for kids and then you can be an assistant manager to a Senior inter county team?? Then you contribute absolutely nothing to the Senior set up. Good riddance Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 10/08/2017 22:20:19 2032172 Link 0 |
I always go by with players who played under people say. By all accounts he is top class. McRory is no mickey mouse competition and won a tough league with an unfashionable club. Also a brilliant coach. Maybe if Mattie listened to him we would have being a lot more successful. Wasn't Mattie praised for winning McRorys and help him get the managers job.

Finbarr was the best man they had in there. he left on his own bat. he wasn't gettin to do enough so he left. we have one of the worst setups in the country now gowna02 (Cavan) - Posts:69 - 11/08/2017 11:51:38 2032308 Why do you say we have one of the worst set up in the country. Have you thought that maybe the manager wants to set out his own method of doing things and this is what is happening. He got the job to manage the county team and I expect that includes bringing in his own backroom team. Having said that rumor has it that both Owen and Finbar have got teaching jobs and probably will not have the time to commit to the county set up. For those of you that don't know the hours the management have to put in behind the scenes are serious and if they were paid 60000 euro each a year it would not be half enough. Easy talk here try and look even at your own club and see what hours people put in just at club level. Mr Hyland the late Joe McCarthy and Padraig Dolan and Anthony Forde for example it would be fair to say they were putting in around 50 hours a week just behind the scenes minimum. I know for I have seen them in the Abbey room for hours working on the future of the game in Cavan. We don't appreciate what people do maybe time we did. McCabe and Jason Reilly being mentioned as new selectors. McCabe losing the head along the line like forde, won't be much help. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 22/08/2017 13:26:25 2036378 Link 0 |
sean, teaching jobs are one profession that would allow you be involved in a county set up

FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts:1575 - 22/08/2017 13:26:25 2036378 I cannot see this happening unless the CCB are calling the shots if yes well then Mattie may as well walk today no point in prolonging the inevitable. Why you make that statement Sean ? Jason Reilly has reinvigorated the Gaels team and while they are always there or there about for the senior championship he has brought a definite spark to them this year & they are playing great football. While McCabe may not be everyone's cup of tea he is the senior coaching officer of the county board Personally I think if they are being brought into the setup it would be a positive

I agree Sean, Mattie should probably walk away or we will likely end up in div3

Jason may be a good appointment but I would not like to see McCabe brought on board ... I think the whole set up at County level in Cavan is in dire straights and if the CB don't get their act together we could find ourselves in a rapid downward spiral..... He will be working with his team 100% and I hope he has a good backroom team The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 22/08/2017 23:00:54 2036585 Link 0 |

Surely McCabe can't be involved because of his role with the CB?

My previous post concerning the 2 names mentioned has been severely edited so my full comments have not been included. Not sure what restrictions if any due to Mccabe's coaching officer role but isn't Tony scullion involved with Derry and he the top coaching officer with the Ulster council. Am still waiting on seann to reply

Cavan played the O'Reilly cup in Longford that Sunday a game we were walking away with but crazy changes lost it from the side line. Hence I said Tony scullion was 'the top coaching officer'

It would be great if people involved in all aspects of Cavan GAA watched today's game and finally realised that defensive football is dead. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 575 - 27/08/2017 18:16:12 2038789 Link 0 |
