Seniors
Our seniors played Redhills on Sunday last in the first round of the league. Redhills were first to score in the 7th minute with a fine point coming from Dereck Fay. Free taker Alan Dunne tipped the ball over the bar 3 minutes later. Gowna's Damien Halton went charging through the Redhills defence but was taken down outside the square. David Hyland took the free and put Gowna's first point on the score board. Redhill's Patrick Gumley and Alan Dunne (again) scored a point each. Gowna scored 2 more points from frees, one from Damien Halton and the other from David Hyland. Redhill's responded with a point from Colin Reilly. The combination of Gowna's Damien Halton and David Hyland, delivered the ball to Mark McKeever, who in turn kicked it over the bar and brought the game to half time. Gowna 0.04 Redhill's 0.05

Redhill's were first to score in the second half from a free, taken by Patrick Gumley. Ten minutes later, David Hyland showed that he can score points from free's too. Gowna introduced Conor Madden to the game in the 16th minute and two minutes later Madden put his name on the score board with a fine point kicked from the left side of the field. Gowna were the stronger of the two teams with Mark McKeever showing great leadership and Madden, Halton and Hyland still scoring points. Redhill's could only respond with a point from Alan Dunne and another point from a free, taken by Patrick Gumley. This brought the game to a close. Final score Gowna 0.09 Redhill's 0.08. Well done lads, it's great to start the season with a win.
