With the clocks gone back, the national leagues drew to a close today and the 2020 Munster SHC commenced.
The mouth-watering Munster SHC quarter-final derby meeting of Clare and Limerick at Thurles (3:45) was a historic encounter as not only would the winners progress to a provincial semi-final meeting with Tipperary next weekend but they would also be crowned national hurling league Division One winners.
Meanwhile, earlier in the afternoon, the second relegation places were determined in both Divisions One and Three of the national football league as Round Seven concluded with three games in each division at 2pm.
In Division One, either Monaghan, Tyrone or Mayo would join Meath in making the drop. Monaghan entertained the Royal County, Mayo hosted the Red Hands and Galway had home advantage against Dublin in a dead-rubber clash.
Leitrim hosted Tipperary in a must-win relegation shoot-out in Division Three, where already-relegated Louth had home advantage against promoted Down and Derry travelled to Tullamore to face Offaly.
