This session will be rescheduled for a later date. The next session is scheduled for 14th May in Crosskeys.

Pitch Clean-up
The Club is very grateful to the many volunteers who turned up for the clean-up around the grounds last Saturday week. There were a lot of hours put in and a considerable amount of work done. The evidence is there for all to see - thanks everyone, including the caterers.
Best wishes
We wish club stalwart Dessie Agnew a full and speedy recovery after a serious operation recently. Dessie's recovering in the Mater at the moment. He was a key member of our first team in 1966 which is of particular significance in this our Jubilee year.
All-Ireland Féile 2016
The Club has the distinction of sending both a boys and a girls team to this year's Féile. Needless to say, there will be considerable costs so keep an eye out and support the fundraising efforts which we are currently planning - score predictions, sponsored walk, special lotto draw and others.
Confirmation
Congratulations to all our Club members who made their Confirmation last weekend.
GAA Commemorates 1916
The GAA is planning a special event to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising. Following the Division One and Two Allianz Football League Finals at Croke Park next Sunday, they will present a show that will commemorate the Rising, the Proclamation, the story of Gaelic Games and the GAA's role since 1916. They need our support in ensuring that it will be staged in front of a full house in Croke Park.
Cavan Commemorates 1916 too
There will be events throughout the day of Saturday 23rd April on the Market Square, in Townhall St., Farnham Street and at the Courthouse. There will also be a parade @ 4PM starting from the Cathedral with marching bands. The Club is participating in the parade with adults and juveniles all encouraged to be there - we will all meet under the Club flag in the carpark of Cavan Institute on Cathedral Road at3.15PM. Other GAA clubs will be there so we want to put our best foot forward! Other participants will be the Defence Forces, UN Veterans, Multicultural Communities, High Nellie Society, etc. The day finishes up with music until midnight on the Market Square.
Sports Star of the Month for January - Niamh O'Shea
Throwback to January when our own Niamh O Shea of Killygarry Ladies team won the Anglo-Celt/Cavan Crystal Hotel Sports Star of the Month for her performances and captaincy of the Loreto U20 team which won the 2016 Ulster Colleges Championship. Niamh has been an integral member of Killygarry ladies and Cavan Ladies since a very young age, winning county and Ulster medals and she even has an All-Ireland to her name. We want to wish her continued success in the future and this definitely won't be the last we hear of Niamh O'Shea!!
Lá na gClub on 8th May
The Club will be organising events at our grounds to mark Lá na gClub on Sunday 8th May. They will include some events to mark our 50th Jubilee celebrations. There'll be something for all ages. We will be organising underage blitzes for boys and girls and we will also have a barbeque for all our visitors. We want all our senior and juvenile players there for the occasion. There are a few other events in the planning stages.
Welcome home Jamie
Former star player Jamie Coffey was home on a visit from London last weekend and paid a visit to the Athletic grounds during last Saturday's clean-up. It was great to see him. Youngsters won't remember Jamie but he was a star player on our 1998 Intermediate-winning team and for a number of years after that. He also played for a couple of years with the county team.

Website
The website will be out of action for a little while. It is being transferred onto a new domain and there are some changes being made to it. We would like to sincerely thank John Lyng for all the work he put into setting up the current site and maintaining it over the years. John and the site have served us well during that time. We are delighted that Neil Doherty and Mels Signs have come on board as main sponsors of the new site. Hopefully we'll have it up and running very soon.
Old photos and memorabilia
We want to borrow old photos and memorabilia (old jerseys, etc.) to use in the Club's jubilee book and to put on display at various events during the year. If you have any, please contact Kevin Reilly on 0872120111 or [email protected]. All items borrowed will be returned to the owners.
Club Men Adult Teams
Well done to our seniors who had a very good win against Belturbet in the Spring League last Saturday. The reward is a semi-final place against Drumgoon. We were well beaten in our first Reserve League game away to Crosserlough last Sunday. There is only one senior fixture next weekend - a Reserve game at home to Ramor on Saturday evening. The minors have no game until Sat 30th April against Laragh.
Club Boys Juvenile Teams
Well done to the U16s who started their league campaign last week against Southern Gaels - the venue was Lacken and the lads won by 2-15 to 1-15. It was a different story this week when they were well-beaten away to Blackwater Gaels. They face the long trek to West Cavan to play Dernacrieve Gaels next week. The U14 Boys have qualified for the All-Ireland Féile competition in Limerick/Kerry on 24-26 June. They're waiting now to start their 2016 League campaign this Thursday. The U12s play their postponed fixture away to Cuchulainns this week.
Club Girls Juvenile Teams
The U16 girls played Belturbet in their first league game of 2016 last week at home but were on the losing end unfortunately. They lost narrowly to Lavey in an away fixture since then in the next round. Hopefully next Wednesday we'll go for a win against Ballyhaise away. The U14s took up from their great Féile win with another win in the League last week against Crosserlough again. Their next fixture is at home against Castlerahan/Denn on 18th April. The Under 12 Girls' fixture away to Cavan Gaels last week was postponed due to the weather. It has been refixed for this Tuesday 19th.
County Men Adult Teams
Good luck to Martin and the Seniors next Sunday in the Allianz league final on 24th April. Good luck also to Darragh Kennedy and Conor Smith in their preparations for the Ulster Minor Championship in the coming months.
County Ladies Adult Teams
The Seniors lost out narrowly on promotion to Division, losing to Donegal last week. Caitríona Smith scored only goal in the game. Well done to them all - it was a great campaign. The Minors (including our own Geraldine and Ellie) were denied a game against Derry last Saturday because the match was conceded.
County Ladies Juvenile Teams
Eimear Kennedy is on the Cavan U16 Ladies Development Squad which lost to Fermanagh last weekend. Next fixture is at home to Monaghan on 23rd April. Best of luck also to our girls on the County U14 panel - Aisling Walls, Eimear Cahill, Ali Cahill, Dearbhla Lynch and Amy Galligan. They played Down in Newry last week and had a very convincing win by 11-19 to 3-05.
St. Pats College Football
St. Pats had a very successful week qualifying for two finals - the Brock Cup and the Dalton Cup. In the Brock Cup semi-final they defeated Omagh CBS 1-13 to 0-15 and will meet St. Pats Dungannon in the final. Well done to the team and our lads - Shane Cosgrave (who scored a point), Eoin Kelly and Oisín Brady. In the Dalton Cup semi-final they defeated Abbey CBS 1-08 to 0-08 and will meet St Pats Maghera in the final. Well done to them as well and our lads - Conor McCabe and Cian Reilly

Healthy Club Project
Cavan County Council participated in National Workplace Wellbeing Day last Friday week. It was also supported locally by Cavan Sports Partnership and by Cavan Gaels and ourselves as part of our Healthy Clubs Initiative. The aim of the day was to improve employee health through promoting better physical activity and nutrition in the workplace. One activity which workplaces were asked to do on the day was to participate in the 'Lunchtime Mile'. Cavan County Council and Department of Agriculture signed up to do this. The walk was around Slí na Sláinte.
