Niall Carew has stepped down as Carlow senior football manager after five years at the helm.
The Kildare native confirmed his decision to depart the team after yesterday’s 0-15 to 1-9 defeat to Wicklow in the Tailteann Cup.
The three-point loss spelled an end to the Barrowsiders’ season, having had a disappointing Leinster championship campaign before snatching a late comeback draw against Laois in the opening round of the Tailteann Cup last month.
Carlow county board chairman Seamus Ó Bolguidhir thanked Carew and his backroom team for their work over the past few years in a tweet posted on Carlow GAA's official page last night.
