Galway camogie boss Cathal Murray hopes to see Dervla Higgins’s red card rescinded after the corner-back was sent off against Tipperary today, seemingly in a case of mistaken identity.

With three minutes to go at Croke Park, Higgins received her marching orders from referee Ray Kelly much to her astonishment.

After the 1-13 to 0-12 victory, which sees Galway into another All-Ireland senior camogie championship final, RTE’s cameras showed the incident which looks to have resulted in the sending off. However, it seems that Galway centre-back Emma Helebert was in fact guilty party - not Higgins - after appearing to swing her hurley and making contact with a Tipperary opponent.

"Certainly, Dervla is adamant that it wasn't her," Cathal Murray told RTE Sport afterwards.

"I just hope the RTÉ cameras can clear that up for us.

"I thought Dervla was having a super game. I just hope that red card is rescinded, and I hope it is a case of mistaken identity."
