Croke Park will stage the National Camogie League and Lidl National League finals next month

The latest easing of Covid-19 restrictions is set to see GAA fans returning to matches next month.

From Friday, June 7, 100 fans will be permitted to attend games with that number set to rise to 200 at grounds which are able to hold more than 5,000.

The government also announced that test sports events will be held to trial greater numbers, with the National Camogie League finals taking place on June 20 set to host 3,000 fans at Croke Park.

The LGFA also confirmed with a statement this evening that the Lidl National League finals on June 26 will be staged as Croke Park test event.

“The Ladies Gaelic Football Association is pleased to confirm that the Lidl National League Division 1 and 2 Finals will form the basis of a Government-approved test event for spectators at Croke Park on Saturday, June 26,” the statement read.

“The LGFA wishes to place on the record its thanks to the Working Group for return of spectators to stadia, Ministers Catherine Martin and Jack Chambers, and to our colleagues at Croke Park for making the stadium available on that date.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming spectators to Croke Park on Saturday, June 26, for what should be a very special occasion.”

The government will consider further increases to numbers at sporting and outdoor events in August in the coming weeks.
