The Padraig Pearses Club Melbourne
2012
Founded in 1968, the Pearses club is one of Melbourne's longest established Gaelic Football clubs.
Last Sunday in Gaelic park Keysbourgh the Padraig Pearse Gaelic Athletic Club, under the watchful eye of their long time president Leonard Harkin made history.

After taking the League title earlier in the year, the women's team were determined to make it a double, and continued its winning streak along side the men's team to take home both Championship Cups.

Pearses Ladies knew they needed a big game knowing that a victory would serve as the double for the season.
Right from the start it was fast and intense, with the entire first half looking like the Sinn Fein girls were not going to let the game go easily. Susan Keirnan was the perfect midfielder to settle the game & scoring a selection of points from frees which helped regain composure throughout. Pearses always looked very comfortable in the backline during the second half with captain Anna Kennedy leading by example doing some excellent hassling. A perfect last minute high ball in from Julie Uhe gave rise to a final chance for the Pearse's who were down by 2 points with just 1 minute on the clock. Edwina Rushe held nothing back as she blasted the last minute goal to secured the win for the team.
Great credit to Sinn Fein ladies for serving up a performance that was a battle all the way & for years to date.
Wayne Reilly & Paul Tighe will come in for special praise for their magnificent coaching contribution throughout the victory along side manager Mandy Humphries.
Final Score - 1. 7 to 0. 9

In the men's camp, the Wolf tones team taking on the Padraig Pearse was never expected to be a one sided affair, looking at both teams performances all year.
Tones started the game strongly, but Declan Nannery & Martin McNally dominated midfield for Pearses under the watchful eye of Captain David Kilmartin who assisted to keep half the back line solid through the game. Danger men in the forward line, James Durkan and Paddy MacNamee kept the scores rolling throughout the day. Both teams started the second half strongly, continually scoring points but Pearses kept on top to secure a narrow victory by 1 point.
A hard earned win for the Pearses men and an excellent contest by both teams.

Congratulations to coach Eddie Bouabbse, along with his assistants Vinny Reid and Eugene Nannery
Final Score - 3.10 to 1.14
