Armagh are facing the prospect of being without star forward Rian O'Neill for their Ulster SFC quarter-final against Donegal on April 24 after he was handed a proposed one-match ban.

According to multiple news sources, including RTÉ, the ban was proposed after Armagh appealed the original suspensions handed to O'Neill's team-mates Ciaran Mackin, Stefan Campbell and Aidan Nugent arising from the fracas at the end of last month's Allianz League clash in Letterkenny.

Donegal's Odhran McFadden-Ferry and Neil McGee were also also given bans for their part in the melee and have opted not to appeal them, meaning they will definitely miss the championship rematch between the sides in just under three weeks' time.

It remains to be seen if O'Neill, who enjoyed an outstanding Allianz League campaign, will appeal his proposed suspension.
