St John’s (Antrim) cruised into the Ulster club senior hurling championship final by handing Setanta (Donegal) an emphatic 3-20 to 0-12 defeat in Owenbeg this evening.

After falling 0-2 to 0-0 behind in the early stages, the Antrim champions didn’t look back once Kevin Campbell fired in the first goal and points from Shea Shannon and Oisin McManus would back it up.

Shannon increased his side’s lead to six, with Setanta looking to stay in the fight as they went in at the break trailing by 1-10 to 0-8.

The second-half would see St John’s cutting loose however, adding another goal and moving ahead by 13 points before Donal Carson’s goal sealed the deal.

The Naomh Eoin club now await the winners of tomorrow’s other semi-final between Portaferry (Down) and Slaughtneil which throws in at 3.30pm at the Box-It Athletic Grounds.
