An open draw in Gaelic football is the way forward according to Clare manager Colm Collins.

The Banner boss has reiterated his desire to see a change in the current format of the championship and scrapping the provincial campaigns.

Speaking to the Clare Champion ahead of their opening game in the Munster SFC, which will see them take on Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds tomorrow evening (Saturday), Collins is keen for changes to be made.

"The excitement of the Munster championship," he laughed. "I've a pain in my face talking about this. It's ridiculous. What I can't understand is why nobody is grasping this nettle and saying what a fantastic championship there would be to have the 32 teams in groups, where anybody could draw anybody. Just because something has gone on for the last 100 years…"

If Clare, as they are expected, do beat Limerick, they will then face Kerry in the provincial semi-final for the third year in a row.
