Dual player row sees Waterford minor boss resign

Waterford are on the look out for a new minor football manager

Waterford minor football manager Tom Flynn has stepped down from his post following a dispute over dual players.

Tomás McCarthy of the WLRFM reports this afternoon that a statement from the Nire clubman described his position as “untenable” after last weekend had seen a training agreement with the Waterford minor hurling management broken.

Flynn and his management team informed the board today that they would not be putting forward their names for 2019, which leaves the county’s U20 post vacant for next season as Flynn had also been in charge of that grade.

This past season saw the Deise minors suffer a 27-point loss to Cork in the Munster championship quarter-finals, before putting forth a much improved display against Tipperary in a play-off where they went down on a 2-11 to 2-6 score-line.
