Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy expects John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer to make a speedy recovery from the injury he sustained in the closing stages of last night's defeat to Cork.

O'Dwyer was only on the field a matter of minutes before he was grounded following an aerial collision with opponent Bill Cooper. The game was delayed for eight minutes while the experienced forward was treated by medics on the pitch before he was stretchered off.

Thankfully, the injury wasn't serious with Sheedy telling RTÉ afterwards: "Bubbles is good. I was down in the medical room with him. He is feeling all his bones.

"He’s a bit shaken, but thankfully he’s okay. He’ll probably be sore for a few days, but we don’t think there is any major damage, but we await confirmation from the medics."

Sheedy was left to rue a poor finish to the first half in Pairc Ui Chaoimh as the All-Ireland champions crashed to their second defeat in a week.

"We left ourselves with a bit of a mountain to climb," he admitted.

"Just coming up to half-time it was level, but Cork got 1-1 and over the course of the first half, you’d have to say Cork had the better of it and had some wides and could have been even further ahead.

"I was disappointed with the first half performance, but delighted how we turned it around after the break."
