Ballycumber GAA Club notes

Dinner Dance.

The Presentation Dinner Dance which was held in the Bridge House Hotel on Saturday night was a very successful and enjoyable event. Our thanks, are due to the very efficient organising committee under the stewardship of Chairman Vincent Minnock and M.C’s. Conor Connelly and Dermot Horan for the smooth running of the presentations. With three teams – 2019 Offaly Division 5 winners, 1994 minor finalists and 1994 Offaly Intermediate Champions and Ballycumber ladies members of Naomh Ciaran All Ireland Champions and St Manchans Offaly Junior Champions receiving presentations – it was mammoth task to get through as quickly as possible. But, with the cooperation of all players and Offaly GAA County Board Chairman Michael Duignan, the task was completed in record time. The evening continued in lively fashion aided by the music supplied by the amazing Noreen Rabbitte and Secrets.

As usual the Bridge House Hotel was perfect in every way, the food was excellent and the cooperation of the staff, especially Noel McCann, was outstanding.

The Club Committee, wish to thank everyone in attendance on Saturday night and all who bought GAA National Club Draw tickets. The ticket stubs are on their way to Croke Park for the draw. Best of luck to all and hopefully we will have a winner.

The Club wish to thank Parish Priest Fr. Brendan O’Sullivan for his attendance and for his kind words. One of the highlights of the celebrations, was when Fr. Brendan passed on good wishes from former Club Chairman and Trustee Tom Doolin, who was unable to attend. At the mention of Tom’s name the gathering rose in a standing ovation to a man who gave life long commitment to our Club.

Well done to Offaly senior footballers who were victorious in Louth on Sunday in horrendous conditions and best of luck in Leitrim on Sunday next.

Hard luck to Clive Keena and Ciaran Grennan and Offaly under 20 footballers who lost to Kildare in a game which should not have been played in such awful conditions.
