Rhode's quest for a four-in-a-row of Offaly SFC titles has received a major boost with the news that Conor McNamee has been cleared to play in Sunday's county final against Ferbane.
The former county player has had the straight red card he received in the controversial semi-final clash with Clara overturned following a successful appeal. McNamee was sent off just before half-time after clashing with opponent Seamus O'Brien. Clara also had Scott Brady and Thomas Deehan dismissed during a stormy first half in which long-serving Rhode stars Brian Darby and Niall McNamee both picked up head injuries and were forced to retire.
