Family Community Fun Day 

 

A fantastic Day was had in Fr.Dowling Park Rhode last Bank Holiday Monday despite the Heavy showers but they did not deter the massive crowd who enjoyed such a jam packed fun day. There were so many fantastic events that took place on the day from The Dunk Tank to face painting and everything in between. A massive Thank you must go to all our Volunteers from the GAA committee, those that gave a hand, the Youth Club , Community games , Comhlatas without whose help it would not have made it such a brilliant event. Particular thanks to Herbie & Yvonne Martin who were fantastic chefs looking after the BBQ, Croi Laighean Edenderry for their fantastic sponsorship of Free Ice Creams for all the kids and Balloons. Rhode Community Centre for the tables and chairs, Declan Cox and Peter Kilmurray for Micro-phone and Speakers. The Dunk Thank Volunteers for letting us nearly drowned ya. On the day our Monster Auction took place with a massive 23-24 lots were sold. A big thank you to all who supported the Auction your support in greatly appreciated.  Hope you all had a very enjoyable day

Senior Football Championship 

 

Rhode Senior footballer's take on Tullamore this coming Saturday evening August 17th   in Bord NA Mona  O'Connor Park Tullamore at 7pm

 

 

Junior A Football Championship Semi Final 

 

Rhode Junior A footballer's take on neighbors Edenderry in the Junior A Semi Final this Sunday August 18th at 11:45 in Bracknagh. 

 

 

U;13 Football Championship 

 

Rhode  U13 footballers had an impressive win over St.Vincent's in the Championship in Rhode last Friday evening defeating them on a score-line of 10-8 to 2-05. 

Rhode Travel to Ferbane this Friday evening August 16th to play Ferbane/Belmont at 7:15pm. 

 

Minor Football Championship 

 

Rhode U17 footballers were defeated by  St>Broughans on a score-line of 4-16 to 2-10 . Rhode will now play 

 

 

Well Done !!

 

Massive well done to Rhode under-age player Gavin Murphy who represented Offaly at half-time of the All Ireland Semi Final playing in the Go Games Half time Match. 

 

Handball 

 

Massive Congratulations  to Cathal McNamee on been crowned Junior C singles Champion after defeating Keith Blacburn. Hard Luck to Daithi Hope who was defeated in the Over 35 A singles Leinster final . 

 

 

 

Lotto 

 

 

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 6th of August for a Jackpot of €4,800.  The numbers drawn were 1 12 21 28.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Doyle’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €200.

Deepest Sympathy is expressed to the Family of  Sean McGrath Croghan who passed away in Manchester . Sean Lined out for Rhode in the 50's winning two senior championships in 55 & 58. 

 

Sympathy is also expressed to the Family of Pat Flynn Coolnabanch  Clonaslee whose funeral mass took place on Saturday last. The deceased is Father of Bernie Cassidy Tubberdaly & Ton Flynn BallyCommon.
