Farrell, Sean T

The Late Sean T Farrell The death occurred at his home in Mucklagh, Tullamore of prominent local businessman Sean T Farrell. Sean, who was aged 60 passed away suddenly shortly before Christmas. His sudden passing brought to a conclusion a life and career of a man who achieved much success and stature in his business profession of insurance broking and estate agency. Based in Edenderry, Sean's name was synonymous with insurance and estate agency throughout the midlands. For 30 years he gave a friendly and efficient service to thousands of clients. This was reflected in the very large attendance at both his removal and at his funeral service in Mucklagh which was conducted by his brother Rev Fr Andy Farrell, ADM, Trim, Co. Meath. Prior to his business career in Edenderry, he was area manager in Athlone for the National Mutual Insurance Company. Throughout his life Sean had an abiding interest, indeed a passion for GAA activities. For decades he followed Meath, Offaly and Westmeath football and hurling teams. He was a regular with his son Kieran at training sessions in all counties not to mention trips to Croke Park, Tailteann Park, Cusack Park, O'Connor Park and many other venues. His joy at the Offaly hurling and football successes in the 1970s and 1980s was unbounded. The Meath 1980s and 1990s football saga of success and the 2004 Westmeath Leinster Championship win brought immense enjoyment to himself and Kieran. In a poignant coincidence Sean passed away shortly before his icon of music Joe Dolan with whom he was friendly for many years. Sean is mourned by his wife Mairead, his son Kieran, Kieran's mother Maura and Kieran's wife Catriona, also his brothers and sisters- Fr Andy, Mrs Maisie Whelehan, Mrs Lil Shaw, Frank and Billy and their spouses, also by his many nieces and nephews. Our deepest sympathy goes out to them all. MD, on behalf of Sean's many friends and colleagues. Courtesy of the Offaly Express 30th January 2008
