The late Michael Keane The death occurred suddenly of Mr Michael Keane, Bailrath, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath, and formerly of Rhode, Co Offaly and Brierfield, Ballinasloe. Michael (63), or Mick, as he was affectionately known to his many footballing friends and family connections in County Galway, was the winner of two county senior championship medals with Mountbellew side who had players from Menlough and Kilkerrin-Clonberne in 1964 and 1965 and was also a junior All-Ireland Medal Winner with Galway in 1965. A physically strong man, his display at full back were always to be admired and only for the exceptional Galway Senior Football Team of the three-in-a-row era, he would have played senior football for Galway. He was, throughout his life, a hard working and successful business man and was a regular visitor to his native area. His remains reposed at his residence before being removed to St Michael's Church, Castletowngeoghan and the burial took place at St Peter's, Rhode after concelebrated Mass of the Resurrection. He was pre-deceased, by his son Ronan, and is survived by his wife, Mary, son, Michael, daughters, Margaret, Catherine, Mary and Ann, daughter-in-law, Katherine, sons in law John, grandchildren, Aidan and Emma, sister Margaret O'Malley, Ballinarobe, brothers Sean - Dublin, Pat - Castlebar, Gerry - Rochbridge, Aunt - Mrs Teresa Ward, Windfield Road, Menlough, Ballinasloe, uncle Mr Michael Kilgannon - Clontuskert, Ballinalsoe (and formerly Castleblakeney).
