Offaly opened their Leinster MHC campaign with an emphatic 5-29 to 0-8 victory over Wicklow at Arklow last Saturday. As the scoreline suggests, the Faithful County youngsters were far too strong for their Wicklow counterparts and the writing was on the wall for the home side after just nine minutes when they trailed by 0-0 to 1-6. Wicklow came more into the game in the second quarter, shooting four points, but went on to lead by 2-13 to 0-5 at the break. Within a minute of the restart, James Mulrooney blasted a third goal to put the result beyond doubt. Mulrooney added another goal soon after before Jason Devery completed the rout with a fifth major.
