The late Paddy Smullen
The death has taken place of former Rhode footballer, Paddy Smullen.
Paddy died in St. Luke's Hospital after an illness. Rhode's Division 1 FL semi-final was postponed as a mark of respect to the deceased.
Paddy Smullen was a talented footballer in his younger days and won a number of Senior Football Championship titles in the 1950s and '60s.
Small in stature but big in heart, Paddy Smullen was a fearless half back and a tremendous GAA supporter.
He is the father of former Irish Champion,Pat Smullen.
