The Late Eamon Hensey, Birr
The late Eamon Hensey passed to his eternal on September 2nd, 2005. Eamon is survived by his wife Rosaleen, sons Garrett and Ivan, grandson Curtis, brother Sean, sisters Margaret, Mary, Elizabeth, Bridgid, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Among the huge attendance at his funeral Mass in St. Brendan's Church were all priests of the parish and Fr. O'Meara from Kinnitty. Also in attendance were many of Eamon's former army comrades who served with Eamon in the Defence Forces together with members of the victorious Birr Junior Hurling team of which Eamon was a member and members of the Kinnitty GAA Club with whom Eamon won a Senior County Title.
His fellow Hackney Drivers were their in large numbers to bid their farewell to a man who was held in high regard and was much respected for the way he applied himself to his family and work.
Eamon served 21 years in the Defence Forces as in Infantry non commissioned officer. During that time he served overseas in South Lebanon. In total he spent almost five years in Lebanon and was among the most experienced soldiers to serve on that mission.
After retiring from the Defence Forces Eamon set up a Hackney Business which became very successful with the help of his son Garrett. Eamon was very well thought of by his customers an was renowned for his reliability and courtesy, especially to the elderly.
The vast crowd at his removal and Funeral Mass the following day are testament to the outpouring of sympathy and sadness felt for the Hensey family.
To his loving wife of 29 years Rose, to Ivan, Garrett and grandson Curtis, brother, sisters and family, heartfelt sympathy is extended.
