Pardy, Kevin

The Late Kevin Pardy The sudden death of Kevin Pardy, aged 48 Derrinsallow and formerly of High Street, Birr was received with great sadness in Birr and the parish of Lorrha. Kevin was born in Hight Street in 1957, he always enjoyed the outdoor life be it recreation or work. He worked most of his life in the construction sector and was adaptable and could turn his hand to anything in the building trade. Like generations of Pardy families, he inherited the great working culture when it came to working in Forestry felling or cutting up timber. Equally he was renowned for working in the bog, he loved fishing and every spare moment he had he would go fishing on the River Brosna or the Camcor. The Pardys were equally involved in the greyhound business, where he acquired a great interest. Kevin was small in stature but possessed a big heart, and in the area of sport was never found wanting as was the case on the hurling field. He won a number of County Championships with various underage teams at St Brendan's National School, Birr and played underage hurling with the Birr Club, where he won Juvenile and Minor titles. He also played with Birr Junior hurlers, the highlight of his career was playing U16 hurling in the Offaly team. In his lifetime he enjoyed the laugh and the craic as well as a pint and a cigarette. Kevin was married to Mary and they had two children Paul and Lisa, whom he was very devoted to. He was a great family man and was very proud of his family. Kevin was a good christian who was always willing to help people in need. The very large attendance at the evening remains from his father's house epitomised the popularity of Kevin and included a guard of honour by members of Birr Hurling Club. His coffin was draped in the green and red of Birr. Equally there was a large attendance at his funeral to Clonoghill Cemetery after Concelebrated Mass celebrated by Fr Cahir, Fr Joe Kennedy, Canon Shalloo, Fr Pat Greed. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Mary, son Paul, daughter Lisa, his father Tom. Kevin is predeceased by his mother Agnes. Sincere sympathy to his brothers Bill, Toby, Mickey, Tom, Peter, sisters Suzie, Mary, Pauline, Elsie, Aunts, brothers and sisters in law, nieces , nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
